My Character only has One Finger?

Post » Tue May 15, 2012 10:50 pm

I can only wear one ring, but my character hasn't lost any fingers yet.....

Anybody planning a mod for this, or is it limited to 1 because of the massive OP potential?

They need to make more available ring slots and using a scaling percentage to balance.

1 ring for full effect, 2 rings for 80%, 3 for 60%, etc - something along those lines.

Depends on how slotting works in SK I guess. We'll have to see when the Kit comes out.

Beth limits it one because of the "OP potential, though I think two would still be fine.

I'd be happy with One on the Left and One on the Right at least

This. I don't know why limit it to one hand when traditionally it was always on two hands. I could say for unbalance, but it's a single player game, if you want a challenge put difficulty to master and annoy the giants or something, or, don't wear two rings wear one if you feel that it's overpowered.

That said, I will still not download a mod if this comes out, i hate mods that alter original game design. The only mods i had in Ob, were texture packs and bug fixes (and Quest Award Leveler, but that was like >> i can overlook this one i have to min/max my characters anyway).

I honestly was a let down by this as well, 2 rings is common in rpgs, so fine, but one? really now?

If you could wear 5 rings on both hands , it would be really overpowered. Ring of Peerless Wielding gives you +40% Melee Damage , and I have 16 of them in my inventory. If I would wear 10 of them , it would be +400% melee damage wich is cray.

It's obviously just a question of stats and balancing. Same reason you can't stack 20 enchants on one item or wear 20 necklaces. I'd say if you want to do it for RP reasons, sure, just make only one ring slot stat bonus active, then you won't break the game.

I HATE it when people say this. You don't play a level-based RPG to intentionally avoid your character getting more powerful, that should be something you strive for and work for, it's a goal. I think they could find a way to balance it, but that's what they should do, not simply remove a slot.

There was a mod for Oblivion called "Natural Rings Limit"; I loved it. Basically what it did was set the limit on number of rings worn mostly based on the combined power of the enchants on them, and by default also used an algorithm to boost the limit further by using your combined skills in Magic and your stats. While I don't think the latter is necessary, making it based on the combined power of the enchants makes sense to me.
