Characters at your disposal

Post » Sat May 28, 2011 6:10 pm

The game is just so fun I can't help playing it over and over. XD

That is not what I asked. The question was how many characters have you made.
Try to keep it clean people. Discussions about getting into DB and such is not meant to be in this thread.

Thank you

Seven, if we're including ones on different versions of the game.
I'd feel like I've abondoned them, but I never roleplayed on the PS3 so I never really got attached to them.

OP: Great poll. I like all the different responses it's getting. Oblivion really puts the RP back into RPG!

I have three characters so far and aiming for one more. I usually make enough to try out the different ways of fighting in a game.

1) Slashlord : The usual test-warrior I use to learn about the game before making a character that doesn't svck. Last I've seen he was trying to pawn off the Amulet of Kings...

2) Fayar : Imperial warrior. Like all warriors, he is obsessed with acquiring great armor and swords. The peculiar side effect of doing this in Oblivion is he eventually became the Immortal Warrior with 100% resist magic and physical. He now divides his time between purging others sins as a Crusader, and enjoying some of his own in taverns.

3) Liswen: High-elf Mage. Most of my play hours are with this character. It is very fun playing a mage in Oblivion and I am still playing her. She's done all the morally questionable quests that Fayar hasn't and most things that he has. Now we are just enjoying ourselves soaking in the beauty of the realm, decorating her Rosethorn hall and herself, and manipulating the citizens of Cyrodil :D

Planned: A stealth poisonist. I have yet to make much use of stealth or a bow in this game. Fayar was tough as an ogre, and Liswen killed so fast, I had no need. To mix things up, this character will have some handicap, like no more than 3 endurance gain per level and no more than 50% resist physical and magic. Keeping allies alive will be a lot of trouble I think, and I hate when they die, but we will see.

I guess about 15 over the last three+ years since I got the game. During the first year and a half, I would build a character and play them quite a while, then retire them and move on. Always one at a time though. I have never had more than one alive at a time. I really liked learning and doing all the quests and optimizing all the skills over the lives of the many characters.

Then about a year and a half ago, I met Buffy. Now, I'm somewhat like mirocu - only one character and I can envision no need to make another. We have traveled together for over 550 hours now. She has done only about 10% of the quests, but we never, ever get bored. Because I have seen all the quests before with one character or another, I could care less if she wrinkles her nose at many quests (as she does). If we ever felt we were running low on things to do, we would simply start her anew.

Haha and I'm still using Liswen. Can I join the stuck on one character club? I can't imagine starting anew though. That would mean people you killed come back to life, and I like to think I'm stuck with the consequences of murder.

Hmm im gonna try to recap my better characters from over the months.
Spoiler

Hiro-Imperial Adventurer, do it all character, 100 in all skills, Daedric enchanted with best self made enchants
Jack- Bosmer hunter gone bad, just to try out A Brotherhood renewed. Great mod.
Teskinah-My first real Roleplaying character, she died after saving kvatch, falling down a hill.
Okan-Kur-Argonian Noble, Died in an Aylied ruin
Nakuma-Forever lost in the wilderness
Ri'Renji-Psychopathic Khajiit mass murderer, and had a flair for interior design, with dismembered heads, and zombifyed corpse remains.
and Tetsu-Retired, settled down with his new Wife Mazoga

And my worst character, RoflLizard, the Argonian Hodgepodge, that just was awful. I think he died stealing a loaf of bread and resisting arrest.

Your Ri'Renji and RoflLizard made me laugh :D
I hope Tetsu likes bossy women!

I have only 2 character's total. The first one is a noble warrior, which i always make. The second is my mage, which is a do-all-quests.

I am gonna probably remake Ri'Renji, he had to have his save deleted when I let my old mods get out of control.
Just wish i could of gotten pictures. But with Bravil Sea Domes in my Load Order, I'm sure I can get some cool collections going again.

Yeah, I remember when I first joined the forums you posted sth like "I wanna talk about my ORC" in ref to ur new character (which btw is ur signature) and you said that 'this was THE one', while ppl where betting if it was gonna be a couple of days or weeks till u posted a new one. Which was funny anyway (nothing wrong with making 100s of character).

I think the 100+ and the 50+ options should be grouped together, I dont see myself remembering whether I made 99 or 101... anyway together they'd be 6 votes.

You can just choose new save haha. When you go into the load screen and scroll around the save games it should tell you the characters name level and what day they are on as well as how many hours you have spent playing them in real time.

Oh yeah, I'm well aware of this.

But I can't stand how it's all "Save 01" etc. I always end up saving over my highest level character with one I've just created by accident. I'm a bit clumsy like that.

If you're on PC, enter the command save [detonator] without [ ] and you will save the file for a character named 'detonator'.

In my earlier post, I mentioned creating a new profile. It's the easiest way to keep your characters separate.

I never had a problem, since I know what save is what character, eh I have bad memory, exept for in games :P

I have had several characters, but mostly the were just to expirement, right now I have several active characters they all live in the same world, so i can't have 50 archmages at the same time lol.

Jericho is my imperial guard, he was the one that did the main quest, he was the one that killed the emperors sons when some rouge mages frenzied him. At the end of the MQ he retired and now he roams around helping those in need and trying to find a meaning in his life.

Fawkes is my orc arch mage, after he became the arch mage he decided to study ayleid ruins and has discovered alot of forgotten and forbiden magic used my the ayleid, he is the kind of person that you never see but he is responsible for all the spell books that you buy, he goes back to the Arcane university one a month to leave orders to Raminus Polus(who he has a crush on) and to write the spell books. When he enters cities he always uses Invisibility so he wont get pestered by people.

Shan is my dark elf noble, she has recently gotten married to Mazoga together they go and hunt for black bow bandits. She abandoned her papered life as a noble when she witness her dad slay a beggar because he asked her dad for a coin.

Tobias is my redguard hunter, he does not go into cities only small settlements, he has become infamous and he has become a folk tale, people fear him calling him savage some people don't believe he exist he slays imperial guards for revenge on what they did to his family.

Monroe is my Khajjit Shadow, he joined the DB when he killed some bullies for stealing his toy, he has the mentality of a child and likes playing, so when he accepts a contract they tell him that someone wants to play.

Richard my Nord warrior, enjoys clearing out caves, he has adventure in his blood, his parents were really famous treasure hunters. and all he wishes right now is that he could meet his parents at least once and this is his motive to actually go dungeon diving in hopes that he would find them.

Yes I realize I didn′t do well on that, but my initial thought was just to have up to ten and then have a twenty option. I never thought that people made so incredibly many characters :)
Anyway now I don′t want to change it again, I don′t want to mess it up more. Better to specify in a post and if you have like 98 or 99 characters, I think that qualifies as a hundred

got it - well it was no criticism, just that i stopped to think myself remembering if i made 62 characters, or 83, etc... My guess is, after I make a dozen, then to hell with it and would answer, er... a dozen or so... ha ha...

Yeah, the way it numbers the saves on the X-Box 360 screws me up too. The kid who introduced me to the game started a file on my profile, and it messed me up so bad I had to kill the whole thing and tell him he had to create his own profile if he wanted to play. It's just too much of a strain to look for the name on the side every time you save.

Agreed. The saves like to move everywhere every time you hit save, so your lvl. 15 Argonian might be in the bottom of the list in one point, then the middle, then the top.

It...it is impossible to keep it up, which is why I only have one character at a time. I don't want to accidentally save my Gregreo file (he's lvl. 32) over with my lvl. 1 Dark Elf.

whynot backup frequently? I 've been doing this for years, and whenever there's a screw up, I know where to copy from.

Make a duplicate save somewhere else probably. Probably can only be done on PC by copying the file.

Well, if I were on PC, I'd just use quicksave.

If I were on console, I'd make a seperate profile.

I'm on both. :D

Oh gawd, I have made like 10+ characters since I got it a while ago.

My first and favorite character, Jimmy Converse is a Redguard Crusader (Custom) finished every questline but the mages guild because he got expelled and im kind of too lazy to get him back in

Then there's a crap-load in between, all completely crashed and burned.

Then there's Chuck Norris I talked about a few days ago. I used my imagination to "rewrite" his story, so now thanks to mods, he has cool armor, two partners in crime, and two fists inscribed with a message to the Empire: "Go [censored] yourselves"
