All i know so far is that voice chat will only be integrated in the console versions..
But how will espescially the PC version handle typed text messages and groupchats?
Standard chatbox is the most likely. Hopefully with fully customizable colors (To assign specific colors to specific players) and with customizable channels.
They just haven't featured much so far in the released vids.
I'm guessing a party, say, and area chat at least. How are we going to communicate without chat bubbles, I do not know. Be prepared for hardcoe chat box staring.
Like I said, be prepared for hardcoe chat box staring and confusion.
Yes, I agree... along with party chat.
I'm sure it won't be a problem for you if you only use group or private channels.
And with chatbubbles what happens if the person speaking is behind you/not in line of sight?
None of you pro-chatbubble guys have answered that one yet.
You're still going to be watching the chatboxes anyway.
No line of sight - he's probably not talking to you
Behind you - Not a problem if playing in third-person. First-person, okay, then you my miss it, but chances are the person trying to communicate with you will simply walk in front of you.
Third person isn't full 360 view at once. Unless the other player is literally stood right behind you or you have the camera zoomed way out, they aren't going to be visible.
And so everyone is going to make sure they are stood in front of the person they're talking too? That's going to be fun when you're trying to do a battle. 'Ooo...stop hitting me a moment I need to go stand in front of my friend before I tell him I need help killing you'
And this aids immersion? Seems more like a recipe for aiding frustration.
Okay, now you're just hating chat bubbles just to hate chat bubbles.
Nope, just pointing out the flaws with them and receiving unsatisfactory -and humorous- answers.
edit: I pointed out that unless they were in front of you, you'd miss what people were saying and you've basically answered than they'll just stop what they're doing and walk in front of you before speaking.
What if you yourself are on the move and trying to get in front of you takes them away from what they were doing?
