Cheza

Post » Thu May 03, 2012 6:42 pm

I recently got back in to Oblivion and decided I would do some writing of my new character's adventures. I've never written fiction of any kind before, as you can tell by my first chapter lol, but I wanted to expand my horizons some. I have posted some of this in a different thread but I figured I'd compile my stories together here. All comments are welcome. Well anyways here goes.

Cheza

Bosmer Archer age 19

Chapter 1

Cheza is finally making a name for herself in the Thieves Guild and is resting in Chorrol reflecting on the past year and how much her life has changed. Not too long ago she was a naive young girl who ran away from the family farm and her over bearing father. She had big dreams of making it in the city when she arrived at the Imperial City riding the horse she stole from her dad.

Things didn't work out quite the way she had planned and as it turned out she had to trade her horse for a place to stay. One night she was wandering the docks, wearing rags, with no money in her pocket and no food in her belly. This is when she stumbled upon Armand Christophe holding a Thieves Guild meeting. Being a thief is something she had never considered before, she had only stolen once before and that was from her father which hardly counts, but she was desperate and they were seeking a new member so she had to go for it.

She had become quite proficient at picking locks and using stealth as a youth sneaking out of the house. So she put these skills to work for the guild and quickly made a name for herself. Cheza has made it to Master Thief but has had to make some difficult decisions along the way, she still regrets having to kill a mage in order to get his key shaped arrow head but he attacked her on sight and gave no chance for discussion so what was she to do?

Chapter 2

Cheza slumped down in a chair, she was in a strange room deep inside the Imperial Palace. A blind priest quickly presented her with an Elder Scroll. She was used to feeling a great rush when objects of great value came into her possession, but not today. "What in the world have I gotten myself into? I'm halfway through my task, surrounded by guards and I'm utterly defenseless".

Getting this far had taken much more then she had expected. Bravado had both fueled her and blinded her, instead of taking the time to prepare for the task Cheza had charged out of the meeting with the Grey Fox and went directly to the sewers. Her quiver had gone empty deep below the palace in some bizarre ruin. The dagger she carried had an enchantment which made up for her lack of skill in wielding it, but the magic quickly wore off. As she ran for her life, with undead horrors chasing her something her father once said echoed through her mind "arrows are limited, if you are to defend yourself properly you must learn to use a blade!".

As she rested in her chair her mind wandered, "I just spent hours wandering through the sewers and fighting rotting corpses, for their sake I hope these blind monks have also lost their sense of smell".

Chapter 3

Cheza sat down in the corner of a shack, it was in the waterfront district of the Imperial City and in dire need of repair. The sound of the rain on the roof was soothing, but any peace it may have brought her was ruined by the water leaking on the alchemy ingredients strewn about her. "How am I supposed to make a decent potion with soggy ingredients?!", she threw what should be a deadly mixture into the calcinator to purify it further. Making poisons was not her purpose tonight, she had plenty in her pouch already, but she wanted a bit more practice before she tried to make something to cure her disease.

After her latest ordeal all she wanted was sleep. "Why did I let that vampire get so close to me?", she shifted on the ground, knocking over her calcinator and spilling it's contents on her dinner. "Why the hell are there vampires under the under the Imperial City anyways? Someone really needs to do something about them".

The escape from the Palace had not gone well. She had been followed out of the reading room and into the corridors. A Palace Guard then discovered her when she ducked into an alcove to take one final look at the instructions provided by the Grey Fox. Her quiet stealthy escape quickly devolved into a foot race. She hit the fire place in some mage's living quarters at a sprint and dove into the chute. She landed hard back in the sewers, "apparently telling me about those damn magic boots is about the only useful thing the Grey Fox has done for me". She resumed her run towards freedom, "those poor guards in their heavy plate armor just can't keep up with me", she turned a corner and ran head long into a vampire.

Cheza had escaped from the vampire easy enough, but not before being infected with its damned disease. She mixed Root Pulp and Mandrake Root and ground them down to a powder, "I can't believe he put me through all that just so he could get back with his ex wife and stick me with the title of most wanted man in Cyrodiil". As she finished her potion she wondered how she was going to let the citizens know that the Grey Fox was now a woman, "we really need someone to draw up a new picture for that wanted poster".

She sat down on a vacant bed roll under the only part of the roof still keeping the rain out. "No point cleaning up, all my ingredients are ruined anyways", she quickly gulped down her concoction, "it's probably better I didn't have anything to eat with this anyways". As she laid down to sleep she considered how awfull it would be to be a vampire, "I can't imagine blood tastes any good anyways".

Chapter 4

Cheza paced the floor of the guildmaster's bedroom, she had not grown to consider this place a home. "That [censored] used the guild and used me", her time since receiving the grey cowl and title of guildmaster had not gone well. "I tried so hard to impress him, did everything he asked and what did he do?", no longer muttering under her breath she was now yelling into an empty room "he abandoned us and stuck me with this damn cowl, he actually acted like this was a reward!"

She was tired of looking over her shoulder, tired of Armand getting her every penny to pay off judges, just plain tired of being chased. She wanted out, out of the guild and out of the Imperial City. She began to pack her things.

Cheza shouldered her pack and set off on foot "I'm the damned master of the Thieve's Guild and I can't even afford a horse." She walked the southern shore of Lake Rumare, pausing to look north towards the waterfront, "It's been just over a year since I left home and here I am leaving again." She turned on her heel and headed for the road.

Chapter 5

Cheza lounged at the bar inside the Silverhome Inn, she had arrived in Bravil after two days on the road. The trip hadn't been all that far but she had taken her time on the short journey.

The Silverhome's proprietor, Gilgondorin, wasn't the best for friendly conversation as he spent most of his time complaining about Bravil. Cheza however felt right at home in this town, she had grown used to squalor and come to love the people many others considered undesirables. The numerous contacts she had in town from her stint with the Thieves Guild were just icing on the cake.

Gilgondorin was telling a story, something about some ghost wandering the coast line. Cheza wasn't really paying attention and was instead consumed by thought, "For a modest sum I can buy a home in town and maybe find a profession slightly more respectable then a thief".

Cheza interrupted him mid sentence, "I really must be off Gilgondorin, I'm not gonna make any money lounging around chatting with you". She set some gold on the counter and took up her quiver and bow. "Where are you going?" Gilgondorin asked as Cheza walked towards the door. "I'm not really sure guess I'll find out when I get there."

Yeah I know, I forgot to say that. I meant the other ones. I tend to leave things out very often, both when I speak and when I write.
