Hey, look, amidst the myriad of "This svcks!" responses, an actual (semi)detailed impressions post!

With a growing Ralphie, it looks like they're trying to mix in some "mature" teenager humor about six and "growing up". Yet they're also going for all-ages visual humor and gags like the original. That means you're getting half your comedic value in each, so the movie's probably going to end up confused about which audience it really wants to please, and will please none.

Most of the gags we see in the trailer are the exact same gags from the original. I mean, literally the same. [censored]hole Santa, leg lamp, little kid cussing, even an aunt joke that's an exact mirror of the first movie's with a different costume. Why make a sequel at all if you're just copying the original? It's not like the original had any explosions or special effects that need updating (a.k.a. milking).

If your sequel is so bad you have to clearly label it "official" so no one thinks it's a dumb knockoff, maybe you shouldn't have made the sequel.

Meh I didn't really like the first one to begin with
Me neither, but it certainly never needed a sequel.

I haven't watched the first one; not even sure if I've heard about this movie. I watched the trailer, and it looks like a christmas movie that tries too hard to stay "classic", while throwing in some teenager humour and stuff like that.

Apart from that, I'm pretty sure the only reason the video have so many dislikes is because it's ruining everyone's childhood memories from the first film.

Being Jewish, albeit of the "move Hanukkah to fit our schedule" variety, this is a film genre I've never had much to do with. Unless it involved singing skeletons. But despite this, and despite finding the first movie rather pointless, this new film looks awful.

Clearly the people behind the film realize this. A Christmas Story is one of the most popular Christmas movies in the US, the fact that it's sequel is a direct-to-DVD release is very telling.

Most of the gags we see in the trailer are the exact same gags from the original. I mean, literally the same.
Unfortunately this is true of nearly every comedy sequel. There are exceptions, but far too few.

For that second video I think http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1jJ9sQTX4EE is a more appropriate reaction.

As my second favorite Christmas movie(behind Die Hard) I must say I am very saddened by this. Horrible idea, down right horrible.

Just pretend it never happened. You're beloved childhood memories are ok, because they didn't remake the movie. They just half-assed a sequel.
