Citytown size

Post » Mon May 07, 2012 9:55 am

Hi all,

I havent been this excited for a game release since Fallout 3
I have one question. I was a little dissapointed when I played fallout 3 and found out that all the towns besides Megaton were rather small. Nicely designed but...small.
I am looking foward to Skyrim and have my fingers crossed regarding the town sizes. I would love to have huge cities where we could get lost in.
Does anyone know what sizes I should expect for towns/cities comparing to say... Megaton or Imperial city?

Thank you.

I expect there to be 6 - 8 Megaton's in Skyrim. :disguise:

As per the developers, there are 5 "large" cities, with several other smaller settlements. Large is a relative term, but I would think they would at least be the size of Megaton, IIRC Megaton wasn't even really that big.

You are right. I just loaded up Fallout 3 again and entered Megaton and I felt that it wasnt quite as large than I thought it was.Oh well...If bethesda made 5 cities the size of Imperial City then I will be a happy man.

Dream on, if Oblivion had 5 IC's itd be the most crowded pos ever. Skyrim is the same size, plus moutains take up a portion of the space, where the hell would you place 5 IC's? Not to say the IC is the biggest city in Tamriel, itd break lore if they made even one city as big in Skyrim.

They're about the size of Oblivion cities from what evidence I have gathered. I've heard reports from some that they are a bit bigger, but, still bearing in mind that there is a sewer/underworks system, this map of Riften shows that it is very small. http://www.primagames.com/media/images/guides/hero/skyrim_maps_jpg_677x337_crop_upscale_q85.jpg

Speaking of Megaton... I'd like to mod in the suitcase nukes styled from Fallout 3. It would break immersion, sure... but seeing a nuke go off in Skyrim would be a one-time event to see. :shifty: At least before you quick-load again.

It wouldn't break the lore any more than IC being smaller than most towns of Highrock and Hammerfell seen in Daggerfall already broke the lore. IC is just tiny compared to Daggerfall, Wayrest and Sentinel and it disappointed me heavily. Not because of the lore, but because I like big cities. It is true that buildings in Daggerfall were of similar architectural style (but different in different provinces) but IC also doesn't have that much diversity to explain why it had to be so small.

Skyrim itself is smaller than London. So it won't happen any time soon. In fact Skyrim is smaller than most towns.
