classes working with one another

Post » Fri May 25, 2012 6:23 pm

When I heard that rogues could throw oil at an enemy, and mages could light it on fire, I was enthusiastic.... than I heard "mages cause a fire spell, and warriors spin around in the fire spell and make a fire tornado......."
Hopefully most of their "class tag-team" moves will be less... strange than that example. What other tag-team moves have you heard about, if they're anything as ridiculous as a fire tonado, please don't post it. That will merely svck the enthusiasm for this game from me... its bad enough Kahjiit are in the Aldmeri Dominion..... uggggh!!

I believe they said a warrior can use his whirlwind skill to spin in a mage's fire spell( fire AoE im assuming) and "kick" fireballs out, but who knows, i like the idea of class's working together to create larger chain reaction type skill events like this but i could see how people would consider this one a bit over the top heh, its a mixed bag for me really and i will have to hear more about it before i judge it.

I like the idea of classes working together like this. I don't really like the idea that allies can stand inside fire whether friendly or not. I understand this is an MMO but I really wish friendly fire would make a comeback. With great power comes great responsibility, massive AoE spells should be carefully targeted so they don't hurt allies. I guess this isn't the time.

Friendly fire in an MMO would be disastrous. Everyone's an [censored] in MMO's.

Fire tornado idea sounds hilarious, not in a good way.

Yup I realize that which is why I said "I understand this is an MMO but I really wish...."
I haven't played an MMO since about October last year.
TESO sounds more like DAOC x GW2 x Daggerfall to me which is probably the best thing anyone could hope for. Unless you want holy trinity, Tank & spank.

There is no "fire tornado." The warrior's whirlwind attack just unleashes a flurry of fireballs from doing his/her ability within the fire.

I personally am very interested in this class ability combo system and hope ZeniMax adds enough mix and variety to truly bring enough dynamism and strategy to the game for players to play it a variety of ways.

Also, this game isn't removing the holy trinity. It's just softening its purpose by allowing classes to be more well-rounded and not pigeon-holing players into being tank/dps/healer with your typical pull/tank&spank combat. The more dynamic and well-rounded classes are as well as the more dynamic and reactive npcs are, the better. I like the small tweaks ZeniMax Online is making to the MMO formula and am anxious to see how they turn out.

See it before you start bashing it. I'm sure it might sound funny, but it probably looks really cool. Imagine that one move you've been doing over and over while soloing - now has an extra effect when combined with a teammate. Awesome! Zeni is doing a great job making players more friendly in the video world, love it!

Yeah, no, no...please no. (Dev's pay no attention to him^^)

Na friendly fire in an mmo isnt bad and actually makes people think before throwing AoE's and firing spells/arrows into a crowd, worked amazingly in Darkfall.

I agree. It added additional challenge to combat. Its a shame people just prefer the easy game of button mashing aoe and avoiding ground effects with a tank in the middle. I'd much prefer to weigh up consequences and prioritize whether the risk is worth taking hurting allies in order to down the enemy. Small sacrifice for the greater good.

Would that sacrifice include times when you're in town, minding your own business, only to have some idiot from your own faction kill you on purpose? See below:

Then there's the issue of combat. You might be succeeding in a 1v1, but some kid throws a massive fireball at your opponent - who sees it coming - and maneuvers you into it's path. Killing you. That's what I do to NPC's in TES who can't see what their buddies behind them are up to. I'd hate to be reduced to that level

I'm a little disappointed we can't use enemy skills as parts of combos. If they spill some oil, I feel I should be able to set them on fire with it.

eh...maybe. I'm not so partial either way on that one. It would be nice, but unfair if they can't do the same.

Firstly, there will be tab targeting not aimed spells and I haven't seen anything stating that object occlusion will be in the game so your massive fireball will still hit the opponent regardless of what's in its path. Regardless of this, it would not be unlike a TES game for the whole town to turn against a player that is attacking random people. How hard would it be to have guards of a town kill the offender for casting hostile spells in town in the first place?

i just hope there isnt set classes that we have to pick and play as,i want it to be like your average in all aspects of melee/mage/range/stealth etc and you grow into a specific class as you play like spellsword, magician, rogue etc depending on what skills you use long enough and level up. i dont wanna have to start as say a rogue class straight away as it takes away freedom to be what you want to be :s
