Classic Video Games

Recently, I signed up at GOG.com. It's quite an amazing site, with all the great games I love: Might and Magic, Baldur's Gate, The Real Fallout Games, Panzer General, ect. I love these titles, more so than many of the new games coming out. While the graphics of these games are quite dated by today's standards, they boast the best gameplay.

My gaming childhood started on the PC back in the late 90s and then the PSX. However, even still, I was only 11 years old when the PS2 came out, so I'm not that old of a gamer; and half of the titles I'm playing now, I never played when I was younger, such as Fallout 1 and 2, which are so much better than this new one.

So let's talk about some of your favorite video-games of old and games that you keep coming back to after all these years.

I've been playing Thief: The Dark Project with my seven-year old, although I did have to finish the haunted mines in level two without him after a group of zombies startled us. :)

Aside from Fallout 1 & 2 , I'm currently attempting Baldurs Gate, I want to like it but the extremely slow speed that the camera moves at when I put the mouse at the edge of the screen makes moving around so tedious, I'll get used to it eventually but still, it seems like an unnessesary pain in the ass. I wanted to get planescape: Torment as well but I spent so much money buying cheap games on Amazon last month that I'm scared to use my credit card unless it's absolutley necessary

My better half couldn't for the life of her understand why our son would want a Manic Miner mug for his thirteenth birthday. I reckon I taught him well.

I go back and play some of my favorite Genesis, PSX and DOS games fairly often.

Recently I've been playing Shining Force CD and Musha on Genesis, and in just the first half of this year I've replayed Blackthorne, King's Quest 6, Return to Zork, Dreamweb, and Day of the Tentacle for DOS (and maybe more that I've forgotten).

System Shock, Quake, Age of Empires.

Been having a look for some more Thief 2 Fan Missions as well.

:D Good stuff!
