I completely agree. Where did this 'Nords are always dirty and never bathe' thing come from? I thought it was only south Europeans who had cultural prejudices against bathing during the Middle Ages.

Well I would imagine that unless their clothes were JUST washed, they would be rather dirty. The nobility all have fancy clean clothes, but the poor local people don't. Honestly, I personally think it adds to the mood of the game. Though some people should have clean clothes, I agree. Maybe the shopowners in towns like Whiterun. They wouldn't be super poor, they would have nicer, clean clothes.

I like my female Nord character (who is not a toon) to be slightly dirty. It's hot.

Great for the people who have a filth fetish..

This however is a thread asking for a mod cleaning the clothing up.. NO one will force you to use it..

Lol, sorry... shouldn't have posted without contributing.
I've seen some clean underwear mods along with clean bodies but you probably have too. There's also a clothing saturation mod that kinda makes the clothes look clean IMO.

I'm using underwear retexes that color the underwear black.. Well I multiplied the female texture till it was dark enough.. The male underwear is horrible no matter what the texture looks like.. I hate their little skirty ..
I did look at the clean skin mod and it looked like... I can't describe.. Like a layer of vaseline had been coated over the texture.. I did not put that in..
I found a lovely face texture today.. Called beauty faces . It's awesome.. I'm only using the texture and s file, not the other ones (tint masks)

Clothing Saturation mod I did not know about. I've cleaned up some on my own.. Barmaid apron , both versions and wench dress..(made black with gold ) Miner's shirt .. both version..

What is the name of that Saturation mod please? -s- And thanks -s-

I agree about the vaseline, lol.

I picked up that beautiful faces mod today as well, and I'm having a hard time deciding on keeping it. It makes my character look like the girl from Twilight or w/e. It's weird. I'm not sure yet.

Edit: While the mod might night remove dirt from the clothes, it appears to be less visible. Also, the clothes look like they haven't been washed 12,000 times in stagnant water anymore, so it's at least a step in that direction.

Some of those do look better.. Some just look darker.. Thanks for the l link.. I agree about being washed so much.. but it looks like he only did male ones . Thaks for the link..I've got it bookmarked..

I removed some stitching from one common dress that was awful..
There is another common dress that is filthy and ugly... I don't see common clothes here.. Mostly armor.. The common stuff really needs a good cleaning.. -s- Not spotless.. Just clean.. Does not need to look like it just came from Macys.. -shrug-

I don't mind the dirt, but I agree about the stitching :o Some of the seams look like they were sewn by competent needlewomen, others (even some "fancy" ones) look like they were sewn by a five-year-old with yarn. And having done a fair amount of hand sewing myself in my younger days, it is just NOT THAT HARD. LOL.

Nudging this back up... That one mod does clean a few things but there are many still needing it.

Personally, the mod I would love to see would get rid of most "built in dirt" on characters and apparel, and add "decal based dirt" that could come and go based on circumstances (like, if I am in the water, I should lose a lot of dirt decals, and when I climb out I should have an increased chance of mud decals on my feet).

Try http://www.skyrimnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=2674. The default version removes the dirt from clothing, and you also get better resolution textures and a little bit more color in the clothing as well. And it does stay true to the original style of the game.

The "more dirt" option has the default amounts of dirt present on lower class clothing.

I like this idea. The linked texture mod already has a clean and dirty version. It should be a simple matter (for someone with the know how :D) to make clean and dirty versions of clothes in game. I don't know if giving the appropriate version to NPCs is already possible without the CK but eventually it would be good to tell the general prosperity of a person/city just by looking at their clothing conditions.

The improved NPC clothes has a lot of really nice textures in... I will try and remove the huge stitches myself.. -s- Thanks for that link.

With Improved NPC Clothing, it looks like the author added noise or filters over the default textures. Are they actually new textures, or just edits of the default ones?

mining is an incredibly dirty job thus the mining clothes should stay dirty, but i agree with clean bar maid clothes.

the way I see it the miner, farmer and caravaner clothes should stay dirty, while the shopkeeper, barmaid , inn keeper type clothes should be cleaned.
