Clearing dungeons without quests

Post » Thu May 10, 2012 4:04 am

So, I'm out exploring the world. All is well and I'm enjoying the freedom to roam around and do whatever takes my fancy.

I come across a dungeon/fort/ruin/whatever and decide to head inside. After clearing a bunch of mobs and solving a puzzle or two, I face off against what seems to be a boss. Victory, and the loot, is mine.

My question is - by exploring these dungeons, and clearing them of mobs, does this eliminate any associated quests for them? If I get to a nearby town, will they no longer give me a quest to kill the local Big Bad (just because I happen to have come across that dungeon in my wanderings)?

If so, I'm now reluctant to enter dungeons in a natural, exploratory manner for fear of reducing the number of quests (and rewards) I can compete.

Has anyone run into this?

Only had something like this happen to me once. I was told to retrieve something from a cave.
Although there was something else hidden in that cave too (which I found).

Later on I got to the point where I would have had to look for that secret, but the quest immediately picked up the change - "oh, you did it already?". This has been part of the main story plot, so not sure about sidequests. But I wouldn't expect them to simply kill the quests, so go on exploring if you'd like to.

You should be ok to explore dungeons I never heard of it doing anything to quest's. I don't think a quest item comes up in a dungeon till you talk to the person and get the quest to do whatever it is that needs to be done. Then that item will show up in that dungeon. However I'm not sure if I'm right on this I'm just thinking this is how it works so I hope someone can help out make sure this is right I never had this kind of problem before.

Hi,

I'm with you here. I got carried away early game and wandered off, killed some boss, found some "artifact" or something. Totally forgot about it.

Later I got a quest to retrieve said item, thought it was cool when I got a dialogue option along the lines of "Oh? You mean THIS old thing?" Made me smile. lol

So, I think radiant story is pretty aware of what you're doing. Good stuff.

Scoob.

Radiant Story tracks whatever you do. Even if you do a dungeon only when you get a quest, if you return later to that quest giver, you may get the same quest in a different dungeon, or a different quest in the same dungeon. It's randomized.
