Climbing and why this game needs it to be succesfu

Post » Sun Apr 14, 2013 4:47 pm

If you ever played daggerfall. You know you can climb just about everything in the game. Elder scrolls online should allow you to climb just about everything. This would increase the games entertainment. It may look silly seeing everyone scaling a wall or house, not triple AAA but it will attract a huge audience, of casuals. Just about everyone that played world of warcraft was obsessed with jumping. The next big thing in the genre is climbing if implemented right. This game needs something special or it'll be another star wars old republic.

Climbing keep walls for stealth characters is fine and worked fine in DAOC.

Anything else is just asking for abuse and exploits. Especially in PvE.

How do you know this? How do you know people will flock to ESO because it has climbing?

I'm pretty sure I'm speaking for ZeniMax/gamesas when I say that unless you provide actual proof as to what you're saying, it's just going to be a gimmick.

There is nothing that bothers me more than having to travel incredibly long distances just to get around a mountain, hill, cliff, or whatever. It would definitely improve the gameplay exploration wise if we could scale mountainsides. Im not saying we should be able to walk right up the side of a cliff, but some form of travel involving climbing would be awesome.

They've said (somewhere, I dont recall where) that everything shown in the alliances cinematic trailer is something they want to be possible in the game - that includes scaling walls (as seen with the elves using ropes to climb up the tower walls) and rope bridges (used by the bretons to cross the gap to the top of the tower).
