I used to own a few when I was younger living in San Diego. Even had a nice Barong Tagalog hand made when living in the PI. Cool and comfortable in warmer climes, and acceptable as semi-formal. As long as the colors are nothing too garish they can be handsome ware.

Pros-
-Dont need to button them if you dont want to
-lets the ladies look at your glorious abs
- Comfy

Cons-
-They are really bad taste
