clothing under combat armor that isn't fat looking?

Post » Sat Jan 16, 2016 11:24 am

Other then the Vault Suits and BOS uniforms, everything else with combat armor over top of, just makes your character look bloated lol has anyone found other clothing that doesn't do this? I can get Ballistic Weave, but the Dirty Army and Military Fatigues look way too fat. So i just stick with the BOS Officer Uniform.

I haven't personally tried them with combat armor but the only alternatives available (if you want Ballistic Weave) are the Minutemen Outfit, Green Shirt and Combat Boots, Baseball Uniform, and Tattered Rags. The green shirt and combat boots and the tattered rags both look a good deal lighter than the fatigues, so maybe you'd like them?

BoS uniform is the best looking. I have McReady in combat armor over road lethers and that works ok.

You should give the Clothes of Cait to Piper then you see what is really fat. Pipers ass looks so unnatural.

Just wear the harness, that's probably the skinniest looking outfit, the top half is nothing.

This really bothers me. Personally I prefer the Vault Suit and the BOS Officer's Uniform under my combat armor anyway but I'd love it if the fatigues didn't make me look bloated.

What makes it even worse is that for some reason you can only apply ballistic weave to a few under-armor garments. This doesn't even make sense. It's simply a matter of aesthetics. I can wear the fatigues under my combat armor and have the extra 110 damage resistance from the ballistic weave, but I can't wear an outfit under my combat armor that I actually like the look of and get the same benefits? Like I said...the only difference here is aesthetic. I'm not going to have some kind of 'advantage' by wearing an armored BOS Uniform rather than armored fatigues.

It bothered me enough that I added a mod to open up basically all clothing items to ballistic weave.

Here's a full (I think) list of under-armor clothing that leaves ALL armor slots open and can get the ballistic weave -

Army Fatigues

Baseball Uniform

Green Shirt and Combat Boots

Military Fatigues

Minuteman Outfit

Tattered Rags

That is such an annoyingly small list. I really don't get why it's so limited. Like I said, there really is no issue with being overpowered by being able to apply it to everything. I can already apply it to one of these outfits and get the maximum possible benefits of having the ballistic weave under my armor. Why can't I apply it to an outfit that I find aesthetically pleasing?

If you're on PC and not opposed to modding, this is the mod I installed. It lets me apply ballistic weave to almost all articles of clothing, and it also opens up things like the linings for the Vault Suit to some of the other clothing.

At the very start of the game, during character creation did you set your body type to the bottom right of the triangle??

Someone had to say it, I guess.

Points up I think long johns (raiders wear alot) go on your list and whatever comes with the checker shirt but that may be the green one your talking about Quantum. And of course Caits corset but it does not look so good on males (well I dont think it does)

Yeah... I've downloaded some mods myself that open up ballistic weave and also one that lets me add piecemeal Armor to any set of clothing (which obviously leads to a lot of potential clipping but gives somewhat more options at least.)

My breaking point was I was initially excited the first time I found a medium leather chest piece, only to see that on top of most clothes it looks like my gal is wearing a diaper. ;)

I've found clean Army Fatigues in Concord and I've worn them ever since under my Combat Armor, which consists of various legendary peaces. Now, the Fatigues are also fortified with Ballistic Weave. I do would love to wear the Atom Cats Jacket/Jeans, and I can add weave to them, but I just like to wear my Black Ops Chest piece, since it adds Strength and Endurance. Why can't you wear that over the Atom Cats outfit? *sigh* You can only wear leg armor with that one.

The courser armor looks cool, too and it gains some good armor with ballistic weave, but I like the gear I wear to have some additional SPECIAL stats. Haven't found anything so far that is better than the Army Fatigues that add 1 STR and 1 END. Maybe the 2 Luck on the Atom Cats outfit, but meh, can't wear chest or arm armor. :(
