Codsworth idolizes me because I was staring at a poster ?

I was just staring at this GOAT poster for 10 seconds, when the message "Codsworth idolizes you" appeared. What ? :P

Wondering if your companion's admiration can randomly increase once it's high enough, or if staring at this sign really triggered something.

By the way I wasn't doing anything special before, just scrapping this old house after having finished the Brotherhood of Steel intro quest.

Has this happened to anyone else ?

I don't remember that happening specifically, although there is a lot of stuff that flashes by in that top corner, and I usually miss half of it.

On a related note, I did something and I got notified, regarding a companion, "Name liked that."

What is this, f-ing Facebook?

Yeah. I got Cait's approval rating skyrocketing with my constant desire to fight things, pick locks and the occasional stripping down to my undergarments. Imagine how I felt about that. “Hey, after all that time you spent picking locks and running around naked, I feel like I'm comfortable enough around you to tell you my dark, tragic past.” Really awkward. :P

Haha, yeah different companions like / dislike different actions. I've had a few "dislikes" from Preston & Codsworth when negotiating for some extra caps.

What surprised me is how it popped out of nowhere this time. I wasn't saving some innocent or settling some dispute or even lockpicking or anything : just staring at the poster. I guess we shared the same contemplation for that little drawing and that goofy text. Not to mention the amazing wall texture. But really, I wonder if this was planned by the devs :o

What are the levels of approval? Is there way to know if you are getting close to max approval?

I have got admire with Cait and Cogsworth just told me about the past 200 years.

He would really like you if you were looking at a hot female robot picture.

Little things like this makes the game feel more alive. Though it would feel even more alive if the companions suddenly got into a conversation about what was liked or not.

I can imagine it now.

"Ohh, you like that poster too do you? Splendored! Moving on then."

'Course, that's just for something as small as a poster. If it was "Kill Brotherhood knight in front of Danse" that's something to get debated about. "I didn't like that you killed a Brother." "Deal with it." *Danse hates that*.

I have to wonder if "companion stats" should be hidden and have the player actually figure things out. I quite liked that. Baldur's Gate 2 did that pretty well. And Dragon Age.
