College Fotball

I am in state of confusion today. I am a huge Michigan fan. They are playing Ohio State, in Michigan. HUGE rivalry.

On one hand, I want the Wolverines to win. On the other, I want Ohio State to stay undefeated and represent the Big Ten (The only conference that cannot count - 12 teams) in a run for the National Championship.

In this late stage of college football, are their games today that have you wondering where your loyalties are?

Do you find yourself rooting instead for your conference instead of your team?

Still rooting for the Boise State Broncos. They had a disappointing season this year, first season since 2004 that they haven't won at least ten games. Hoping that Utah State loses to Wyoming so BSU can get another chance against Fresno State in the conference championship.

I'll start by saying I don't follow any sports. I also think the BCS system svcks. If you want a true "champion", use a bracket system.

That said, considering where I live, I go with UM over OSU.

I'm a Florida Gator fan and alum (big shocker there, huh?), so at this point all I care about is getting our thrashing at the hands of FSU behind us so this season can mercifully end.

PSU fan here and I could not care less about OSU winning a NCG, but if they would win out and continue to win plus win their bowl game, it gives the rest of the conference more credit which will be all the more important when PSU comes off the ncaa sanctions and makes a name for itself in the postseason play. It just helps to have the credit of a beating a powerhouse in order to give recognition to your own future NCG bids.

I hope that makes sense. So keep winning OSU, keep the seat warm for the rest of us.

I agree. The BCS is still the top 4 "voted" teams vying for the championship game. They need to get "voting" out of the whole equation.

It makes perfect sense to me, a fellow Big Ten fan. I am soooo sick and tired of hearing about how great the SEC is. True, the Big Ten really svcks this year with Ohio State being the ONLY bright spot this year, but it does get tiring :)

I hope they (the conference) do get better, especially when PSU gets back from sanctions.

I'm sick of it too, but at the same time it is true. Alabama is a dynasty, and LSU and Auburn make tons of noise in recent years. They are the best conference because they have recruited and coached the best. They also haven't been caught yet doing anything against the rules.

I agree that the SEC is a very strong conference :)

Florida (not this year but recently) is usually pretty strong, Missouri is looking good, Georgia has its moments, and South Carolina is fairly strong, too. Overall, I agree it is strong. I am just tired of hearing about it every year :P

Well, good for Michigan for making it a great game when all the pundits wrote them off weeks ago. There'll be some second guessing though about that 2-point call.

I think the irony will be just too delicious if Ohio State misses out on a title-game chance. Never forget that there would have been a playoff system already in place by this year if it wasn't for a handful of holdouts led by OSU's recent president. Even in next year's best 4 playoff format, OSU would be a shoo-in.

Then there's this, so many college games fail to live up to expectations. But how about this "Iron Bowl"? Whoa. This makes a mess of the BCS doesn't it?

Holy smokes, when it comes through, is there anything better than college football?

My alma mater, Tulane, was in Houston today playing Rice. Not worth the drive.

So I went to the Superdome and enjoyed the Bayou Classic, Southern vs. Grambling State.

Southern won 40-17. Grambling tried to make a rally in the second half but were clearly outmatched.

Some Southern fans sitting near me, in for the whole weekend of festivities, were asking about restaraunts nearby. So after the game I volunteered to show them a little non-touristy secret a few blocks away. As one of my nephews was cooking, getting tables was no problem. They seemed genuinely impressed with the place.

I excused myself to speak with my nephew, instructed him their bill was on me, then said my goodbyes and drove home.

I hope they were pleasantly surprised when the bill never came and that they have a wonderful weekend.

Welcome to New Orleans. :wavey:

I just noticed that we've all been off topic. This thread is about something called Fotball.

Maybe it was intentional so that the soccer crowd didn't get in a fit about using a word that they seemingly have patented on these boards.

I enjoyed the game and agreed with Brady to go for 2. Michigan just could NOT stop Ohio State, so an overtime would not have been good, I think.

The "iron Bowl" was superb game with a fantastic finish (for Auburn fans).

I was pulling for them, too. Now the BCS is all messed up for the SEC and their run for their eighth national championship :P

I'll be pulling for Missouri in their championship game, simply because most folks thought they would be so terribad for years in the "powerful SEC." Now, if only Ohio State can take care of Michigan State in their championship game and Florida State take care of Duke, I'll be happy :)

That is a GREAT story. Since they will probably never be able to thank you, Thanks from me :)

Yea, I was thinking of specifying "American College Football" for the title. Maybe I should have :)

Some great games played Saturday. With Ohio State deciding to lose, looks like Auburn may be playing for the Championship.

Oklahoma vs Oklahoma State was a good game, as was Auburn/Missouri and Michigan State/Ohio State. I was pulling for Missouri and Ohio State, but the games were good, close games to watch :)
