Once again, I come to the smartest people I know for advice. I'm a high school senior and undecided about what to study. I've been told that my college major doesn't necessarily indicate my career but I'd like to have a good starting point. It'd be really interesting to hear any personal anecdotes on this topic.

Not so much a major, but I've been looking into volunteer work as a means to the ends. If you're not planning to live luxurious, may be something to consider.

Any major, conceivably: if you complete a PhD in your field and become an academic, you'll be flying all over the place for conferences and visiting positions. (You'll likely do a lot of traveling during your PhD as well).

Archaeology/Anthropology/Paleontology are several ones that involve travelling, if you can get field work. After all, it's not like the subjects of those disciplines come knocking on your door.

Unless you're doing an Anthropology study on Jehovah's Witnesses or Mormon Missionaries. They do. Eventually.
