Combat Armor.

Post » Fri Feb 18, 2011 9:12 pm

Before operation anchorage came out for Fallout3 it drove absolutely nuts that the combat armor only came in a short sleeve variant and even then was available only with the winterized skin(console user).

So my question for all of you is, do you want/hope the long sleeve variant will be in New Vegas?

I would a like mixture of both variants in NV.
As the saying goes "variety is the spice of life"
lol :)

Long sleeve- looks better than the character's naked arm.

I prefer the long sleeve because it seems more practical. Whether it's the desert heat of the Mojave, or the merciless winters of Anchorage, clothing over your skin will help protect you from the elements. Direct sunlight on your skin won't just make you sunburn, it'll also make you heat up much more quickly than if you were wearing a long sleeved shirt.

Plus it looks cooler. =P

Long Sleeve Combat should come standard, If only my Reilly's Ranger Armor came in Long Sleeves I'd be an extremely happy man. :tops:

Choice, always choice over "either or" for me.

I would have preferred long sleeve in Fallout 3, but now that your STR and Traits will determine what your character will look like, the short sleeve should look pretty awesome on a higher STR character with traits like Bruiser. Plus it makes a lot more sense in the desert.

For real man that's the the first thing that popped in my head when I got that armor lol.

And I also agree that it should be the standard, seeing as it was that way in the older games like F1 and F2, etc.

What's this?

Anyway, I prefer long sleeve because I wouldn't like to have my arms exposed during heavy combat and under the blazing sun.

Don't care. I don't see my characters wearing it. It's just boring. The NCR ranger armor that isn't the one from the trailer and cover tells me that there will be more interesting alternatives anyway.

Well, that wasn't much of a problem in Fallout 3 since your character was always 19 anyway, but it could be a problem in New Vegas.

Though honestly, I don't care much either way, though I guess long sleeves makes more sense since you'd probably want to cut down on exposed skin in a firefight, so I guess Obsidian should go for that.

It's not really "confirmed", but in some video taking place mostly in character creation the player set STR to 9 and when the PC was seen from 3rd person perspective he was completely yoked. I just kind of put 2 and 2 together. Hopefully I was right. It bothered me in Fallout 3 that a character with STR 5 looked exactly the same as with 10. My character looked really skinny for such a strong guy.

I hope you're right too because that would be badass :D

But it could also be a bad thing depending on how much it would affect your body size for each point lol

I want the long sleeved one...
And it would be nice if they add a desert camouflage to the armor :) (Camouflages have been used in combat since WW 1, but rarely used by regular forces. Trust me, i read this at a book, and http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Military_camouflage)
That would be nice....
I love camouflages......

I don't like the FO3 combat armor, because i don't like a military armor with short sleeve, it's tactically unsafe, because your arm is more exposed to enemy fire.
Plus, i'm tired of seeing soldiers with short sleeve uniform (or rolled up sleeve). (like in my country, because it's a hot,and humid tropical nation :disguise: )

Hell yeah that indeed would be awesome lol

There's the advanced power armor so why not the oldschool combat armor too.
Variety! :D
