After starting a new caracter in skyrim, i cant help but feel a bit frustrated at the combat system.
Only two spells/attacks available without opening a menu, no dodging, and quite impractical to aim at enemies. So i was hoping to improve this a bit. Here is the idea i came up with, but all your ideas are welcome.
Making a "compound" spell:
Right now you charge a spell by pushing the trigger (or keyboard button) and it fires when you release the button.
I would like to have one spell that can have 4 spells attached to it.
When the attack is charged, you release it by pressing one of the 4 gamepad buttons.
example: X : fire rune / Y : wall of flames / A : firebolt / B : flame cloak
Only one spell to equip and all the fire spells are at your disposal. Same could apply to melee (shield bash, dodge, charge, vertical, horizontal), or archery (zoomed shot for precision, quick shot, power shot)
Making a lock on system:
Pressing the left trigger would look for an enemy facing you and lock your movements around him (much like a zelda style combat). This would allow to focus on the timing of attacks rather than aiming your strike.
So basically i was thinking of making a mix of the two:
create a spell that you equip in your left hand, find a way to assign an actions to each of the 4 buttons
when that spell is charged it turns on the locking (for melee only), and when you click one of the buttons the appropriate spell shoots.
Using this kind of system to both hands would allow us to bind 8 actions instead of two.
What do you think ? possible? or should i go back to playing zelda?

I have some modding experience, but i think this requires SKSE..
