Community Bug Fix Compilation Patch Permissions
========================================

Hereby follows the list of included mods in the compilation patch detailing which have been given express or implicit permission (implicit meaning the authors have either given permission in their mod or actively commented or been involved in the mod somehow (if this is inaccurate and you secretly hate me, please let me know). If you are a contributor and have not yet given permission, you can either PM me here or on the nexus, or simply state in this thread that you give permission for your fix to be included, and the OP will be updated to reflect this. If you would like to deny permission, please contact me via PM and I will remove your mod. I would like to state now that my intentions were never to offend anybody, and I realise it is my responsibility to put things right here. For the record, I am contacting all modders who have not as yet given permission with a PM pointing them towards this thread. All modders have been contacted and I am now just waiting for a reply.

It is assumed that when permission is granted, this includes permission to make future edits to any assets or scripts that may be necessary in forming an unofficial patch, and that this permission is passed on to whoever may upkeep the patch in the future.

Thank you to the many people who have permitted their fixes to be used in the patch so far. I hope this project can continue as it started, with a spirit of good will and community.

I think it would be wise to fix the NCR Ranger Combat Armor Weapon Clipping problem because it is so annoying to look at.

Very useful collection! As a note, I just updated slightly the snowglobe display. No in-game changes visible, it's just "properly" done now, instead of the old half-assed thing. (originally wasn't sure if the static would work without a hit-box, rest assured, it does).

Theoretically it should, just load FOOK after this. But it could have unforeseen results like scripts messing up and other things. Depends on how FOOK implemented some of it's fixes.

I'm not sure on this regarding the latest version of FOOK (0.3). The bug fixes I integrated from FOOK 0.2 were fine, so I imagine it is the same for 0.3 unless any of the 0.2 fixes were altered. The FOOK thread would be the place to ask on this.

I don't see why FOOK should be dealing with bugfixes at all.

@povohulo - neither do I really. In fact it was so perplexing to me that i went and ripped out all the bug fixes into a new esp file, which is what got me started on this whole business in the first place.

For nexus users interested in the permissions debate, I have made some suggestions in how to improve the permissions system in http://www.thenexusforums.com/index.php?/topic/261971-nexus-permissions-rules-compilation-patch/ thread on the nexus forums. It starts from the post made today at 6.08pm. Before you charge in, please remember to observe the following:

This is often a highly emotive topic to discuss. However, the aim of the debate at this stage is not to discuss the merit of permissions or not, nor to discuss the fate of the Community Patch (which is in no danger of disappearing) or whether I am a very naughty boy (I am) but to discuss how the permission functions of the nexus can be improved for the benefit of all. I have put forward some ideas and the aim of the discussion now is to discuss and develop these.

With this in mind, if you decide to comment, please try and stick to discussing ideas on how to improve the functions to improve permissions on the site, and be reasonable, respectful and civil.

Thanks everyone.

I'm trying hard here not to sound like a jerk because that's really not my intentions.

While it's nice to see someone actually compiling a patch i think you need to be a bit more careful and more selective. Also if you add fixes from other people i think you should inspect them to understand how their done and why. The brotherhood of steel bug fix clearly caused a bigger bug than it fixed. It took me an hour of searching to figure out the bug was actually done by this patch and not part of the vanilla game. Now i understand accidents happen but i can't help but feel if the scripting that was changed was carefully inspected before it was added it probably wouldn't have happened.

Below are two of the mods that look to me to have nothing to do with bugs.

No Faction Warning PopUp v.1.0 by Lexx - Is a personal preference and i'd much rather a large notice saying i'm getting disguised. If i don't want a popup i'll download the mod.

(Working) Lightweight Food Sanitizer v.2.5 by Morbide - Again personal preference i'm sure the developers excluded it exactly because it was annoying to lug around and didn't have much point. No doubt the item itself was added as a nod to Fallout 3.

The people that run the Nexus are smug and arrogant, and you could bring them the most sensible suggestions in the world and they would still tell you "bottom line we own the site, it is our rules" just because it gives the aspies that run it a sense of power.

I don't really know how much knowledge you have of the GECK or scripting. However if the answer on either of those is very little then i don't think you should be making a patch at all. So far all the fixes you've added seem to be from other people. Now i get it's a community patch but with this patch being around as long as it has now i actually expected you to go through the fallout wiki and make a list of all known bugs on quests, inspect them and create fixes yourself since others haven't.

The lightweight sanitizer isn't just a weight change to the food sanitizer -- it actually makes it DO soemthing to all the food. In vanilla, it has zero effect on quite a number of foods.

That was actually my point. The fact that it doesn't do anything in the vanilla game. The vanilla game also doesn't allow you to bottle water. As bizarre as that is however that doesn't make it a bug.

Actually no, that is a bugfix mostly. Food Sanitisers ARE in NV, you find them in the Repconn Test Site west of Novac (during the "Come Fly with Me" quest). Read the description of the mod itself, Obsidian left large amount of food items unaffected by the Sanitiser, doing careless things like classifying some as armour.

The weight reduction is a personal choice by the author though.

I'm afraid, after all this, that I'm going to discontinue public work on the patch, and simply compile it for my own convenience. I have decided the extra effort required of me to upload it to the nexus it is simply not worth the hassle, and I don't want to upload it anywhere else as I do not want to jeopardise my membership to that site by uploading files on another mirror (which is against the permissions on many of the files). There has been essentially no response to the ideas I have posted, so as nobody seems interested I shall no longer waste any time on the mod.

For anyone interested in actually making an unofficial patch, feel free to use what I have done as a base, and good luck to you. This page is evidence that the mod (minus the Scribe Counter Fix, which Krag has not got back to me on) have been freed for use.

I am sorry to hear about this, I really am, But I really think you are taking this all too seriously. I did read your suggestions on the Nexus thread you linked, but I didn't reply probably for the same reason that many people, who are interested in the continuing development of the patch, did not reply. The discussions on this topic so far has proven one thing: like so many internet debates, there is no real communication, just people painting each other into corners and forcing them to defend 'positions.' It's not a 'discussion', it's warfare.

Quite frankly, if there was just one outstanding permission, you could have just stripped it out of the patch, integrate the new fixes, and upload the update. Because in the end, this patch has a limited lifespan. As the game is incrementally patched by the developers, the compilation patch will find itself increasinly useless, but possibly transforming into an unofficial patch that will integrate bug fixes which the official patches do not fix--this is the 'big picture.' But instead, what you and some others have done is to make this about Nexus, their policies, their staff, in which this patch is being used as a tool to be leveraged against the Nexus, rather than something that is intended to help the the community of players. If your motivations about doing this patch is the community, then the community will benefit most not from protracted debates in which a mod hosting site is painted as some institution mired in bureaucratic rules that have somehow become stifling, but by you uploading what you have permission for, and providing download links to those fixes that you don't.

So while I am sad to read about your departure from this project--that I still hope is only temporary, and I appreciate the time and effort you put into this, and still think you are the best person to handle a project that integrates player made fixes--a job that requires not so much technical knowledge but communication abilities--I am also not going to BS anyone and hide my own frustration with you. Quite frankly, I am wondering how someone who is so clearly intelligent, whose writing is so articulate, cannot fathom the simple fact that we come here to game, not to start revolutions,

Same here. Although I still think you should keep it going and just use other websites other than the Nexus to upload, they probably won't ban you.

I came here for a patch, which I now cannot get because some useless bureaucrats and kiddies discouraged the modder who has been doing a great contribution to the community, even though none of those who actually did anything for this patch ever complained. Good work!
