Does anyone know if companions levels are set when they player first meets them and they stay that way for the entire game, or do they level to a certain point and then cap??? I've read in other forums that its when you first meet them i.e Lydia svcks, Jordis much stronger so if thats the case would Lydia be stronger if you didn't become Thane of Whiterun till you reach level 50 or something, it just seems strange that companons dont level with the player. I got Lydia around level five where she could hold her own, but at level 38 one or two hits and she's down which is really annoying,,,, any info on this would be great

I assumed that the well fleshed out companions with interesting personalities were 1-3 levels behind you, but I'm curious for confirmation as well.
