Just wanted to say that I love Vilja, Emma. She's so much more fun to have around than the usual companions. I truly enjoy listening to her prattle on about anything, though I admit I've gotten worried when she complains that I'm not talking much. (So sorry, Vilja, I don't have any way to carry on my share of off-topic discussions, but I do look for strawberries and sweet rolls wherever I go, now.)
On thing, though. I don't have any of Duke Patrick's mods loaded nor do I have any combat enhancement mods, but I'm also experiencing sudden crashes on occasion when Vilja summons her horse. Not always, mind you. In fact, they only started one night after Vilja and I decided to take a close look at the edge of Lake Rumen and left our horses on the road above. Well, we got a bit distracted by bandits and while we were gone, our horses were attacked by something. Don't know what but I received an alert that Bruse was "unconscious" and when we raced back, my horse was still there but Bruse was gone. After that, when she summoned him the screen went black and I crashed out of the game. This happened four or five times in a row as I fast traveled to various locations to see if it worked better there, saving as I arrived, then mounting. Then, I tried running down the road a ways and then fast traveling (to get my horse to come to me). Two separate tries in a row and the problem stopped. So far, she has now been able to summon him with no problem several times.
Don't know if this means anything, but I thought you might be interested.
Great to hear that you and Vilja are getting along so well!
I'm going to make a guess regarding the incident with Bruse. You say that the horse was 'unconscious' and that you couldn't see him. Obviously he had try to run away from the enemies and was probably unconscious in some other cell. So, Vilja tried to summon an unconscious horse, which caused the game to crash. You left the cell and travelled elsewhere. I think this would mean that as Bruse was in another cell than you, he remained unconscious for 72 game-hours, and then he reset to his normal, conscious state... and once he was up on his for legs again, Vilja could summon him again! Could I be right about this? I'm merely guessing, but it does sound about right to me.
FWIW, I will confirm the crashing on occasion, when summoning the horse. Usually on reload it works just fine... until the next time. And I don't run any of Duke Patrick's mods either.
Had an interesting thing happen in Wawnet Inn last night... I told Vilja to relax, and then I bought a room and went to sleep. When I got up in the morning, I searched inside and out, and she wasn't anywhere to be seen! Finally, when I went back into the Inn, I heard her saying something (and the patter of her footsteps). Turned out that she apparently got tired after all and decided to go to sleep--in a locked room---and then couldn't get back out. I had to break in to free her. The things I do for that girl!
...and here we have another take on summoning crashes. Here I have no idea, as it obviously 'only' happens occasionally and a retry will sort it out.
LOL I can imagine your surprise at the Wawnet Inn

. Yes, she must have found a bed without ownership somewhere in the inn while you were asleep... and then she obviously managed to reach it through a locked door. I believe there are only three safe solutions to when you sleep in areas where certain doors are locked: either keep her in followmode - then she won't go to sleep - or tell her before you go to bed where you want her to sleep. Or make sure that you continue to sleep until after 7 in the morning, when she gets up, then you will never 'know' where she slept, and she won't be in any locked rooms when you wake up.
