Companions cant ride horses? Really?

Post » Fri May 11, 2012 5:37 pm

Amazing how Bethesda didnt even figure to allow companions to ride with you on a horse, or at least point to one and command them to "take ownership" of it or something. Jeez. I love having to ride halfway across the world on horseback only to have to wait for someone to catch up with me on foot. Way to think two steps ahead of the game Bethesda!

Yeah this is getting to me as well, hopefully this will get fixed with mods however in the mean time while traveling with other characters are there any places where I can stable my horse?

pro tip - once you get to where you want, go to the map and fast travel to that location, even though you're their already. voila, companion will be there. horse too, in case you lost him somewhere

I just head to the area, then wait an hour.

Both of the tips above me are work-arounds but Bethesda should have thought about this.

Plus it takes away a bit of the role playing aspect of the game. I really hope maybe they will include this in a patch?

Agree, very annoying indeed, why would I want my companion to attack a horse!?

this totally svcks, it was the first blinding oversight for me, as it does take away from the immersion and is completely unrealistic.
at least have another node fixed to a horse so both player and companion can ride together.

and pleae please fix combat on horseback, warband does it so can tes come on beth you lazy lubbers

hope is with the modders

Im not sure if BGS is still like this but I dont believe they change design elements like this very often. They fix bugs and scripting errors but Im not sure about things like this. This is the one thing I like about Obsidian - after New Vegas was released, they admitted that there were design errors and addressed them

I know this is a huge, and I mean HUGE hit for me. You're doing an escort service and you have to literally walk the horse to have the npc stay up with you. This is one of the huge things I want fixed. I can't believe Bethesda didn't think far enough ahead on that.
