Compass marker range reduction

I'd be surprised if nobody's done or figured this out yet, but just in case i figured id pass along this along anway, and let the communties modders make the mods.

I wanted to put some of the exploration back into the game, instead of having the compass markers tell me where everything is at, however, i didn't want to remove them entirely. Just make them appear when i'm MUCH closer to the location. Basically, along the same vain as this mod from Oblivion: ( http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=1878 )

After much trial and error it seems that the game settings of iMapMarkerVisibleDistance and iMapMarkerRevealDistance don't do anything. At least if they do anything, i can't seem to notice. Instead Skyrim seems to use two new game settings:

fHUDCompassLocationMaxDist ( Default value 20,000 )
iMapMarkerFadeStartDistance (default value 10,000 )

For my own game, ive reduced these by 60% using skyedit. So now they're using 8,000 and 4,000 respectively. It could probly be reduced further, though i do find the point of interests markers showing up on my compass at a much more sane distance. If im standing in one spot, the marker will show up approximately 1/2 to 3/4 distance of what i can see visually in the local area. Bascially, If i can't visually see the POI, it doesnt show up on the compass.

Thank you for pointing this out! I've been hoping there was a way to do this without entirely disabling them.

Is it an way to remove remote quest markers? Pretty pointless to have markers to quests in Riften then you are in Whiterun.
Yes they should have longer range than visible range, say Whiterun to Riverwood but not global range.

There isn't much need for that when you can go into the quest Jorunal and turn the marker off for that quest.
