I've completed all of Boone's quests, but have not really used any other companions. Is there anything "good" about completing others quest in the same playthrough? Can you even do all of them in one playthrough (I know some quests are triggered by certain actions).

You can do every companion quest in every playthrough. The anti-Legion companion quests you have to do before you raise your Legion reputation up, which would be difficult in the case of Arcade, but I believe it can be done. The biggest reward for completing them is that they're good quests, and generally the reward comes in the form of upgrades for companions instead of you. This is pretty much true for all companions except Arcade, who will get you the best armor in the game. Each companion has their own ending if you used them even once, and they are good or bad depending on what you do, one particular companion has few, if any, good endings.

I'd say without some serious planning/foreknowledge, you won't be completing all companion quests in one playthrough. But it probably can be done, yes.

...but unless you're the kind of player who doesn't like to replay a game at all, there's no reason to. Don't need to do all of their quests to get the Achievement either, I think. Not doing them all = more to do on a 2nd run.

But as mentioned above, if you never hire a companion, they won't get an ending slide. And yes how you deal with their quests, in combination with what you've done during the main quest, affects their ending slide.

What companions can get you quests? Arcade, EDE and Boone, is that it?

Arcade, Rex, ED-E, Boone, Cass & Veronica all have their own, named quests.
Raul & Lily sadly have just some minor unmarked quest

Raul's quest involves visiting 3 people who trigger his quest dialogue and then he makes a life decision based on your advice to him. It wasn't as large as some of the others but I thought it was a good one. I don't think I ever finished Lily's quest because I missed having some dialogue with her about her medicine. I only did the first part with the Doctor. It's something else for a future playthrough.

I know, I have him waiting in his Vaquero outfit in the L38.
Still, it is a completely passive thing, so to say. His lines are triggered automatically when talking to the relevant persons, and that is it.

Hmmm. I just picked up Lily, but I don't seem to trigger any kind of "minor" quest. Is there something I'm missing?

You have to have done a few things (conditions) for her quest to trigger. Has to do with her 'medicine' & Leo.

I completed all of the companion quests in one playthrough ages ago. It was on my companion achievement playthrough, I thought if you hired a companion and didn't do the quest they ended up with a bad ending. I'm not sure if this is the case though.

well, for most companions, like Raul, you really have to complete the quests if you don't want them to have a bad ending

some companions have pretty sad endings (imo) no matter what way you complete their quests, others like have good endings as long as you complete their quests, for all the other companions, it really depends on how/if you complete their quests, and it may also depend on the outcome of the Battle of Hoover Dam

I'm fairly far into the game and I've just looked up Boone's quest.
I've already done Booted and freed nelson without him and I don't think I can take out Ceaser and Vulpas with out bringing down the whole camp.
Am I right in saying that it's hopeless with out going a long way back?
And I don't want to do that as I've just finished Dead Money today.

Well, there's three Boone points to be earned at Camp McCarran, plus two (?) at Cottonwood Cove, I believe. Did you do those too?
