Computer Restarts after stepping into temple of the divines

Post » Sun Dec 11, 2011 5:49 pm

Cross posting this in General discussion as well as hardware and software issues forum in the hopes that someone who has had the same problem will see it and share a fix.
I got the quest "the wolf queen awakened" from falk firebeard in the blue palace. Ran down the street to get the key from the priest in the hall of the dead. He then sends me over to the temple of the divines. I open the door, get a half a second to look in the room with some people standing around then my computer shuts down.
I left my computer room to ask my wife if the power went out for a second but she said no. I then assumed my computer was overheating. Intel chips will shut down the computer if they get too hot. I have had this problem before on my old rig, and my computer room is pretty small and can get hot after hours of gaming. I have a pretty beast rig right now pumping out lots of heat. I called it quits after that(long night of gaming) and started playing skyrim again the next day figuring the chip wouldnt get hot for some hours and I had no desire to open her up and reset the cooling fan.
I tried to load the save that the game made from me travelling through the door into the temple of divines but it wouldnt load, just sat on the loading screen for several minutes (usually takes less than 15 seconds). I had to go to the task manager and end the games process(wasnt responding).
I brought up another save outside the hall of the dead before and went to the temple of divines again. Computer forced to restart again! I found another door to the temple on the right side of the building on the second story. I opened that door, saw the interior for two or three seconds, thought I had it made...Restarts again. I dont know what is causing this. I verifyed the integrity of my game files with steam utility, and have searched high and low for another report of this bug but found none. Any help anyone that can be given would be appreciated. This restart isnt a crash to desktop, then normal shutdown. My computer completely loses power like an emergency shutoff, then comes back on after a second.

My computer/skyrim is set up as follows:

ASRock Z68 PROFESSIONAL GEN3 LGA 1155 Intel Motherboard
Intel Core i7-2600k 3.40Ghz CPU
8 Gigs RAM
Dual NVIDIA GeForce GTX 570's in SLI configuration
Windows 7 64bit
Skyrim through Valve Steam

Your computer is obviously offended by these pagan gods.

I'm sorry

I'll let someone else be useful now...

Cross-posting in multiple forums isn't allowed I'm afraid :nope:

However most Skyrim crashes are due to insufficient memory (RAM) so if your computer actually restarts then it could be faulty memory.

Indeed. Please use your http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1294354-computer-completely-restarts-after-stepping-into-temple-of-divines-in-solitude/, I've moved most of the relevant posts there.
