Concerning Guilds, Factions and the Dragonborn

Post » Mon Dec 24, 2012 10:48 am

Okay so here is the thing. I like to create a new character for every different faction/guild/expansion/main quest etc. I'm sure you get the picture. I did this in Morrowind and Oblivion. It was all fine. I haven't played Skyrim yet but when I do I intend to do the same. I will have a Main Quest character, Thieves Guild character etc. My question is: are you ever reffered to as the Dragonborn in any of these factions? I'm particularly concerned with Dawnguard. I don't want to be playing as a simple Breton mage and suddenly the archmage says that I am the one chosen for this quest because I am the Dragonborn or have the head-vampire from Dawnguard tell me I would make a fine vampire on the basis that I am... the Dragonborn.

I hope everybody understands what I am trying to say.

After you kill the dragon at Whiterun and absorb his power everyone will start calling you Dragonborn, and ya at the College of Winterhold you can get around the initiation test by just telling them your the Dragonborn ^>^. It does get annoying, especially if you want to be recognized by townsfolk as something else, but not having shouts kind of limits the gameplay, as its like having a third hand in my opinion.

Do they call me dragonborn in dialogue cutscenes? Or just you know, I'm running along the side of the street and someone says: Hail, Dragonborn! As for the initiation test in the College, do I have to tell them that I am the Dragonborn or am I able to take the test? And since I haven't played the game yet may I ask whether killing the dragon at Whiterun is something that I have to do before I am able to join factions?

The guild quests won't be a problem. However you will be referenced as a dragonborn in Dawnguard.

Dragonborn dlc is self-explanatory.

Both Dawnguard and Dragonborn correlate with the Main quest.
