Concurrent Adventures -- Mod Idea

I was thinking about beginning a new character in Skyrim today, but I have been struggling to decide between an assassin or mage. It occurred to me that I might play both, switching back and forth after each in-game day.

This inspired an idea for a mod--what if both my characters could occupy the same world? Obviously, they could never interact with each other (because when I'm playing as one I can't also be playing as the other), but what if their actions could effect each others' stories? The simplest example might be if I kill an NPC with my assassin, then they would also be dead for my mage. But it would also extend to quests, so that beginning a quest with one character removes it as a possibility for the other. Any significant consequences of a quest would effect both characters' worlds. In principle, several save files of different characters could be integrated, so that a player may have several concurrent and interlocking stories in Skyrim.

Different people could even link their save files online. While they would never see each other in-game, the consequences of the other player's actions would be felt in their world.

I have no idea whether this is feasible, but someone ought to do it. Me? I play Skyrim on the 360, because my PC is crap. I wouldn't be able to enjoy this mod even if it existed, but I figure it's an idea worth sharing anyway.

I'm not an expert but my guess is that it's not possible to have one character's game affect another character's game. It would be a really cool thing to do though, if it could be done.

I've come kind of close to doing something like this a few times. In Morrowind I played two sisters named Eawyn and Aemyn Eawulf. One would do part of the main quest and the other would not. Aemyn Eawulf would begin the main quest, but partway through she would suddenly and mysteriously "disappear." I'd recreate her an an NPC in the Contruction Set, choose an exterior cell at random and drop her into it.

Then I'd start playing Eawyn. Eawyn's quest was to find her sister. But neither she nor I knew where her sister Aemyn was. I wouldn't know, because I usually put tape over the montior screen to prevent me from accidentlly looking at the cell name and if I recognized a landmark in the window I would choose another cell until I found one I didn't recognize.

It could take hundreds of hours, sometimes, to find the missing sister. And many times we did not. I just had to give up sometimes. But it was always a blast to play those two characters.

They almost affected each other's game in the way you mention, but not quite. :)

There was an idea of having your character retire ingame, and have your new character continue in the same world. Retiring character or something on the forum here.

If someone make it happen, it'll be similar to this idea, just that you can't go back and forth.
