Conflict free manner to make a hireling?

Post » Tue Nov 20, 2012 6:39 am

So, I have a custom NPC, with a custom voicetype. I need to make him a hireling. (I'm helping someone else out with their mod)

Should I have my own custom quest, with scripts somehow referencing the complex hireling scripts? Or can I just add my topic info's to the branches of the vanilla quest? Will this cause conflicts? If not, it would obviously be the easiest way to do this.

Same thing with the follower comment scenes. Do I just add the NPC's custom lines to the dialogue action, or will that create conflicts with another mod that does the same thing?

Hopefully I can get an answer quickly, I'd like to get this sorted ASAP. :)

Thanks,
AJV

charakter -> quest -> filter for hireling
best way that i have been able to figure out, is to copy one of the lines from another hireling and change the text/soundfiles from there, though since the 1.6 patch it is VERY VERY buggy if it at all works

The easy way is to just the default voices and simply copy an exsisting hireling

Alright, so that's what I've been doing, hopefully it will all work. And the 1.6 issue is the dialogue bug, which should be fixed via generating a SEQ file, explaned in the giant red link in my sig. :)

Alright, I've simply added my info's to the vanilla quests branches, and copied the proper scripts. This appears to be more or less working. :)
