Hey, I'm skeptical to MMOs in general, but I've decided to give this one a chance.
Just because it becomes a MMO it doesn't mean the series will fail.

I recommend we wait and see first. Bethesda can make spectacular gameplay and while I suspect the story and writing will be a joke the actual dungeon roaming and character development will be vastly superior to, say, WoW.

Ouch Pistolero... you used the WoW word? I've played many MMOs in my days, but never WoW. Horrible graphics. I sure hope that Zenimax will make a far, far superior MMO than WoW! LOL

I find it funny how just because some people haven't liked games like Oblivion and Skyrim as much as previous titles, they're convinced that the series is in a decline and will soon die. And yet, Skyrim is by far the most popular Elder Scrolls title ever. In addition to the fact that an MMO has been on the fans minds for years, I'd say it's safe to assume that "jumping the shark" is not what is happening.

I'm going to give the obligatory example of Call of Duty here...

Call of Duty is HUGELY popular.

However, one cannot argue the fact that it is also one of the most hated franchises at the moment. This "popularity" you speak of consists of nothing more than mindless drones(players) that have no idea what they're playing nor what they could play.

Well then your argument isn't relevant. Low quality stuff has been popular and successful for hundreds of years. Even if we're taking this overly pessimistic mindset going into TESO, it still won't be the end of the series as the OP suggests.

I think you will find that the URL for this website says 'gamesas'. Bethesda Softworks is the company publishing, among others, Bethesda Game Studios games.

I'm not happy. But since I like TES I would be willing to try. But how will teamwork go? I like playing by myself. I have a lot of questions in my head about this game. Time will tell
