Conjuration or Illusion ? or.. erm ?

Post » Fri May 25, 2012 6:09 am

So, after breaking my game by leveling up smithing and echanting with my archery/1h/sneak build and getting op, now i'm starting over with a close but, a little different build, Instead of having archery this time i'm thinking of either illusion or conjuration to help manly 1h/sneak gameplay. I'm not going for pure combat because without having archery and not leveling smithing/enchanting, its kinda impossible(hard) to kill those big guys(dragons etc..) with only 1h attacks, right ? So as a helper for those situations, conjuration or illusion will be more suitable ? At high levels, are conjured creatures scale enough to be tanks?
What you guys suggest for my 3rd main spec after 1h/sneak ? Kinda confused..

Its too easy to get OP in this game. Most people who are halfway decent at playing these types of games shouldnt be playing on Adept difficulty setting.

I'm doing conjuration with my battlemage. So far its fun!

I suggest Conjuration, because with it you can get a a free Deadric sword and bow that's not too OP with upgrade. Not to mention you can also use that Astronage forge to get Deadric weapons.

Illusion doesn't help you much with dragons, so conjuration would be a better choice. You'll always have a summon to do the job, though note that in essence you really don't need anything other than conjuration, so it may get boring for you again. :)

As for illusion on an assassin character, see http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?showtopic=1290251 for some discussion on that topic.

I tried some 1H+spell combinations on my assassin-ish character, but the damage seemed too low for when I needed to actually fight outside of stealth, so I just went with dual-wield, which costs only a few extra perks and works well (not always, but often). If you don't want archery, you can get the dragonrend shout which forces dragons to land.

I miss a shield. Shields are lovely in Skyrim.

It's really fun IMO. I managed to play around with a Ranger/Hunter barbarian type of Assassin. I've got two sets of armor, one for summoning and 1 handed straight forward fighter or the stealthy sword/bow type. The deadric lords also help for a good distraction when you sniping out people.

I just got the spell to summon a daedra lord. Funny thing is I got this spell before I think I even saw on in game.
