Conjuration as main skill?

Has anyone tried being a conjurer? Is it powerful enough to play through the game on adept or expert?

I use it a lot and I'm getting better at it but it's not Oblivion where you have an instant conjured entity. It takes time to charge a spell and then the entity appears when you release/shoot the spell. Distance is also involved and I'm going to take a Perk real soon here so I can conjure up something from further away after I've charged the spell. The Flame Atronach has helped a lot in fighting some of the tougher enemies. It helps Lydia survive too.

Cknjuration is amazing. Especially if you use bound weapons. If you use bound weapons expect to level up super fast. I am level 8 and I have Conjuration at 45. I mix this with alchemy and stoneflesh and I am invincible. My friend has a mage and he says it's great and he like lvl 42.

Conjuration is ultra powerful on any difficulty at any level. Unless you go melee, eventually they will be seriously be out damaging you.

It's important to note that the master perk that lets you summon two Atronachs currently also works on Dremora Lords. My first character was a level 40ish conjurer on Expert who I quit due to excessive boredom since combat essentially revolved around summoning two of those, then a Bound Bow, then standing back plinking away while they slaughtered everything. It's certainly viable, but whether you find it fun or not will depend on your temperament.

I can see that some of you are using bound weapons and alchemy and I wonder if you can poison bound weapons.

The conjured things seem to help me a lot more than in Oblivion.

Yes, it is my Necros main way of dealing damage. I kill one enemy, turn them into a thrall and go from there.

Nope. Enchanted/Poisoned weapons will always out damage the conjuration ones. Although they do seem very powerful, even in later levels. I wish I could see their stats.

Late levels using a specific exploit will net you crafted weapons that do 5K+ damage and armor that reaches 10K+. (Of course is it an exploit if you are using a game feature?)

So then by mainly using summons, you can go through the game? I was worried it would be too weak like in Oblivion.

EDIT: summoned creatures I mean

Late game you will not really see the damage bar move when you hit the creature with destruction. When your pets hit it will drop a chunk of the health bar.

Late game conjuration may be the best magic.

I see. Thanks for clearing that up.
