Console and server separation?

Post » Sat Jun 15, 2013 11:36 am

Still undecided on what next-gen console I'll be purchasing but I wanted to know if ESO servers will be separated or not? In other words could someone playing ESO on PS4 be able to play with others playing ESO on the computer or on Xbox One?

Xbox will have its own. PS4 will have its own. And PC/Mac will share.

Im getting an Xbox One myself but refuse to play an MMO on anything without a keyboard and mouse.

I know how you feel. I still hope PS4 and Xbox One are able to plug in a keyboard and a mouse into the USB ports though. I think it'd be fun/different playing an MMO on the big screen but because of the separated servers I might have to stick with my PC for ESO.

Well from the reaction im seeing from console gamers, I don't think the separate server will be a big issue population wise. I have a feeling plenty of console gamers will at least try it out. But if you have friends playing the PC version then yeah, sticking to PC (or console if thats where your friends or at) would probably be the best move.

And I agree with you, playing on a big screen would be pretty cool. I didn't even really consider that. Plus the fact that there wont be a huge need for macro's really considering EOS went with less usable skills at one time (a move I really like for various reasons.)

I really hope the population for ESO on consoles isn't a huge difference from PC. I do have a lot of console gaming friends so ESO for PS4 or Xbox might be the best option if the population thing isn't an issue.

And yes! I agree with you on that one. The less macros and usable skills will really keep the Elder Scrolls feel to the game in my opinion! I just hope it will have the full MMO experience that it should have. All MMOs that I've played have been very similar so I just hope ESO is different.

Yeah I know what you mean. I played WoW for a few months and SWTOR for a few months as well and the fact that you have so many spells and stuff took away from it imo. It cluttered the screen but the sad part was, you didn't need a screen really. I was always looking at my skills and just pressing buttons in order and at certain times. Give me less abilities and more immersive combat any day.

But yeah, with the way they are doing the mega server thing, I don't think their will be an issue with population on any platform. Shouldn't be stuck in empty servers ever.

Not trying to be an ass but why not plug your PC into the big screen then. It is pretty easy these days if you have a modern enough PC.

PC version will have better graphics to be honest. Quicker response times due to the keyboard and mouse as well. The HD TV's are no where near as good for resolutions as a half decent monitor I can even tell the difference between my pc monitor and when I connect the PC to my Sony HD 40 inch screen. On the TV the graphics look blotchy and seem to move slow due to a very poor response time. On my monitor they are a lot better because its designed for computers.
