Just like oblivion, each "cell" of the game world updates after around three days "ingame" time. So if you drop something in say, someones house, after 3 ingame days it will be deleted. Ontop of that, with skyrim unlike oblivion, the NPC's will try and take stuff off the floor if you drop it. Some will ask you if you still want it, others will just take it and run. So dropping it places can be risky.
The only "safe" places to store things are in containers in houses, Houses do not update after the three in game days, they stay static so whatever you put in your own house containers will stay there.
Thats the only way unfortunatly.
Just to verify, dungeons and houses in Oblivion was not deleted and recreated after 3 days. Just the npc, creatures and containers. Sometimes I dropped loot as I had to much to carry and it was still present after multiple respawns. Weapon npc dropped disappeared as they was linked to npc but not anything you dropped.
Oblivion had multiple safe containers like calms and the open grain sacks, so I hoped somebody had tested and found it in Skyrim.
Thank about the looting NPC so I have to find a place without them.
Anybody know if Skyrim has the same three day respawn system as Oblivion? Know that dungeons have longer time so I'm think of containers in houses and outdoor. Thinking of testing some containers.
Then the construction set is released it would be easy to find containers without respawn tagged, this knowledge will also benefit console users.
