Containers, alchemy, healing and forum search

Anybody know of any safe containers?
Can I get free healing somewhere like in Oblivion / Morrowind or do I have to buy a potion / scroll?
How does alchemy work, none of my ingredients show any effects, do I need to take an perk or train it up to 25 before I can use alchemy?

Last is it not an search function on forum so I don't have to ask the same questions as everybody else?

Not sure about your other questions, but with regard to alchemy - to learn the first effect, eat an ingredient - you do not automatically know the effects in this game without trying it out. For other effects you need to either look around for recipes (which you can buy in some places) or try combining stuff together at an alchemy bench to see if you get a potion. There's no automatic knowledge of ingredient effects, it's trial and error (or wait until someone puts them all up on uesp so you know what will work as a potion :whistling: )

1) You can buy a house in Whiterun early on for 5000 gold.
2) Alchemy is intended to be that way at first. It's pretty much trial and error.
3) Use your healing spell. You should have one. Even Warriors have it.

Sorry about healing, I use the heal spell, that I thinking cure disease as I have managed to get two.

For storage I don't have 5000 gold, has to find a place to drop a lot of loot until someone figures out.

Healing spells don't cure diseases, as far as I know in Skyrim anyway. You'll need a potion of cure disease or a spell for that, or pray at a temple shrine. Also, sleeping in a bed should heal you up unless you're a werewolf.

Just like oblivion, each "cell" of the game world updates after around three days "ingame" time. So if you drop something in say, someones house, after 3 ingame days it will be deleted. Ontop of that, with skyrim unlike oblivion, the NPC's will try and take stuff off the floor if you drop it. Some will ask you if you still want it, others will just take it and run. So dropping it places can be risky.

The only "safe" places to store things are in containers in houses, Houses do not update after the three in game days, they stay static so whatever you put in your own house containers will stay there.

Thats the only way unfortunatly.

Just to verify, dungeons and houses in Oblivion was not deleted and recreated after 3 days. Just the npc, creatures and containers. Sometimes I dropped loot as I had to much to carry and it was still present after multiple respawns. Weapon npc dropped disappeared as they was linked to npc but not anything you dropped.

Oblivion had multiple safe containers like calms and the open grain sacks, so I hoped somebody had tested and found it in Skyrim.
Thank about the looting NPC so I have to find a place without them.

Anybody know if Skyrim has the same three day respawn system as Oblivion? Know that dungeons have longer time so I'm think of containers in houses and outdoor. Thinking of testing some containers.

Then the construction set is released it would be easy to find containers without respawn tagged, this knowledge will also benefit console users.
