Continuous Crashes Whilst Outside

Post » Mon May 14, 2012 11:11 pm

Apart from the fact that this is an AWESOME game, I'm getting crashes that really spoil the game! They happen roughly every 5-10 minutes outside, and don't seem to happen at all whilst inside. Usually the game will freeze for a bit, but then resume. 1 out of 4 times it'll crash to desktop, and I get the "Display Driver has stopped responding" error.
I've compiled a nice list of things that I've done/have because I've seen them given as reasons and excuses as to why the game's crashing before:

- I have the latest beta nVidia drivers. I've also tried the latest non-beta drivers, and the ones before that. None of them are any different with regards to this issue.
- Nothing is overheating. I've checked my temps with GPU-Z.
- I've tried the random sound fix that involves changing to 44KHz or something like that. It didn't help.
- I've tried disabling vsync. It didn't help.
- I've tried both my external creative soundcard (pc-express slot one) and my internal realtek soundcard. No difference - in fact, I found the game crashes slightly more when I'm using the creative soundcard.
- My system's more than capable of running this game (and it runs it perfectly on high settings, very high FPS, very smooth gameplay).

Specs
----------
Intel Core 2 Extreme X9100 @ 3.06 GHz or 3.47GHz (actually unsure about this, I think because it's an Extreme CPU the bios automatically overclocks it up to 3.47 GHz)
4 GB RAM
nVidia 280M GTX 1GB
Windows 7

Any help would be greatly appreciated! I've seen this happen to a lot of other people so I don't think it's a specific issue with my system. :)

I've been having problems with crashes to. I have ATI HD 4850 1 GB though. It is just random anywhere every like 30-60 mins and just straight crashes without warning. I've bene trying to find a fix too, this is just a bug that Bethesda needs to fix.

It seems to be happening more frequently now. Every 5 minutes :(
