RE: Control schemes for consoles

Post » Tue Oct 05, 2010 7:25 am

Hi.

Am thinking of picking this up but I would like to know if you can select different control schemes. For me in particular I play with "Legacy" controls. Those who play games like Halo , COD , Gears Of War or from the N64 days for that matter will know what am talking about, if not I will be happy to describe / post the controller scheme.

Now I can play with both schemes ("Default" & "Legacy") but all of the shooters I own, I use "Legacy" because it feels natural to me & I play better. The only time I use "Default" controls is when I play Bioshock & it's a pain to go back & forth between control schemes & getting use to them over & over.

Just alittle note, I don't like not getting a game that I might be interested in because of this. This is why I got Bioshock anyway. Like I said, I prefer to use "Legacy" controls in my shooters.

Thanks.

I was currious what all the layouts are on the consoles. Picking my copy up on thursday.
Can anyone type up the functions of each key for each layout if your very very bored? LOL
Or better yet post pictures of the diagrams of the layouts :) :) Whoever did that would rock, and I think I would owe my 2nd child to, well maybe a puppy if my wiemeriner some how had a six change and managed to have pups :)

I'm playing PS3 version for a few hours. The gameplay is so addictive that it's really tough to put the controllers down. Like many reviews said earlier, the enemies AI are very good, that I was nearly dead sometimes although I'm playing on Recruit. Bad news for some folks who hate using R1 and L1 for fire and aim down the sights since there's only 1 control scheme. This svcks compared to other FPS like KZ2 & 3, MW2 , Battlefield BC2 ... they allow players to customize the controls.

- R1: fire.
- R2: cloak engaged
- L1: aim down the sight (zoom in when using the visor).
- L2: mximum armor
- X: jump
- Square: reload/ Grab/using objects.
- Triangle: (tap) cycle weapons (the instruction manual says double tap to equip grenade but I'm having trouble with it although I tried a million times)
- (D-pad) Up: Visor
- Down: Nanovision (gogglevision)
- Left: fire modes (auto/semi auto)
- Right: cycle explosive (RPG, C4)
- Select: (press) Nanosuit ugrades. Press and hold: weapon customization.
- L3 : sprint. Steady the scope when aiming.
- R3: (Press) melee/ stealth kill. /(Press and hold) Power melee./Zoom in the scope when using sniper rifle./ Power kick (trash bin, car, ect)

So that means you can't change the controller scheme at all, no "Legacy", "Southpaw" & ect... ? Or your talking about changing the button configurations on the controller ?

Button mapping & a controller scheme are two different things. I don't mind if the button configurations are alittle different compared to other shooters, it's a small adjustment. It's the thumbsticks am talking about, the way you move, look & ect...

For example: "Legacy"
Left Thumbstick: Move forward & backward, Turn left & right
Right Thumbstick: Strafe, Look up & down

Yeah I'm talking about the button configurations.

In this game:
-Left stick for move around, sprint.
-Right stick: aim, look, strafe, melee, stealthkill, kick, zoom scope.

I found my own answer thanks to YouTube.

Beware, it's a walkthrough for the first mission but the person browses the menus in the first minute & a half before playing the campaign & you can clearly see that the controls can be changed. (Stick & Button Layout)

Here's the link for those who are wondering.

Am just wondering now if the "Legacy" layout is there ?
