PC Controls Being a Pain? Try a Controller!

Post » Wed May 09, 2012 1:25 pm

Seriously, if you have windows, and a wired xbox 360 controller, just plug it in to one of your USB ports and windows will automatically install the driver for you to use. So not only do I get to play Skyrim in such amazing Graphics with future mods updates etc, I also get the console feel with the use of a controller. As far as PS3 controllers go, I'm not sure if they are wired or can be. Or if they work in windows. But it wouldn't be bad either if your a PS controller fan.

Also, if you DON'T have a wired xbox 360 controller I suggest 2 options:

A) Go to your local gaming retail store and see if they have any used wired controllers (which will be cheaper then a new one)

or

B) Buy a Reciever for xbox wireless controls. Click on this http://www.amazon.com/Xbox-Wireless-Gaming-Receiver-Windows-Pc/dp/B000HZFCT2 . It's to Amazon. It's only 17 USD too :D ! Not bad I'd Say.

But yes, HAving the best of both worlds for me, puts this game at the top for me. Favorite game this year for me.

I would quickly like to add that the controller is just as fluent as if it were on Xbox, only better frames ;) (aka bump)

I honestly don't mind using the directional keys.

Controller is better indeed and it makes lockpicking a breeze when compared to keyboard/mouse setup since you can control the speed on which you rotate the lock with the anolog sticks and the controller rumbles when the pick is going to break.

Controller would still be inferior. If they'd improved keymapping and let us map combinations, I could play without having to ever pause in combat. With controller, I'd have to pause even more frequently. We just need to wait for patch or mods to optimize it, guessing the latter.

The perk tree menu should also just be redone for PC, it's just plain awful.

It may be just me, but I don't saw any problems (To me) with the UI and the Controls. But many customers = Many different tastes and opinions.

That's an interesting point that might be worth getting a controller for, conversely, isn't it time someone started profiting from a rumble mouse? I'd like one please.

I like the controller as well. Just eay of access but at some points the keyboard is handy for macro spell swapping on the fly.

I love it on PC for grpahics and control. My buddy is not happy with his PS3 versio nwhich is glitchy and prob the least good lookign version. Played a little on xbox 360, which isn't bad, btut jsut no where near as good as the pc version.

Now to find thsis damn stolen amulet im lookign for in this dungeon.

I dont have a controller I do not intend to get one. I guess I just keep on complaining about horible user interface.

Funny though: I thought that release version of Witcher 2 had poor UI, but comparing Witcher 2 UI to Skyrim UI... Witcher 2 comes ahead by huge margin.

I already have a Xbox 360 USB controller for Battlefield 3 vehicles on my PC.

Looks like I'll be using it again for Skyrim!

PC360 for the win!

Controllers svck for first-person games.

But anyway, the game controls fine with mouse and keyboard. It's the menus that are a pain to navigate.

I'd prefer a PC UI, but frankly it took me only minutes to adapt to the provided one. UI mods shouldn't be too long. (Hell, they may have some over there now.) And yes, WASD or the arrow keys make for easeir navigating.

So after sitting on my butt all day in front of my PC yesterday waiting for the day to pass, I did end up using my TV and a controller from my bed last night for the last 30 minutes. It's nice to have the option.

Wherein lies the problem.

People who don't own an xbox controller and favour the pc controls do so because they don't own an xbox (or any console) and arn't fluent at using controllers in first person games... I know I can't aim straight for the life of me on a controller in first person xD

PC gamers should HAVE to use controllers if game developers use even just half a brain to make the PC controls and UI work well.

Mods, better graphics, but with a controller.

*Some* people. I never preferred the controller even when I have the ability to use a controller. And I grew up using consoles. Wrists are more accurate than fingers. Not out of preference, but because they literally physically are.

I used to think the same, then I realised the controller doesn't [censored] up my wrists as bad as mouse/keyboard do and helps me avoid getting carpal tunnel which is already a worry considering I work with a pc most of the day.

I thought about that before. I figure if carpal tunnel comes on before heart disease, I'll be okay.
