[REQ] Conventional flame weapons.

Post » Sat May 19, 2012 11:03 pm

I'm trying to RP a character that uses no magic, spells or enchantments, so far been unsuccesful, for example while it's possible to beat down a troll through a lot of hard work, it would be nice to be able to exploit the troll weakness to fire without resorting to magic(that includes shouts)

My idea is the use of linen wrap and dwarven oil, wrap the weapon in linen soaked with the oil, this can be applied to blades and arrows, perhaps prepare several arrows at a workbench.

Thanks for taking the time to read.

You can use a torch instead of a shield, while fighting trolls. A shield bash, then sets them on fire.

Your idea sounds alot like the Witcher's sword oils. I would like to see a mod like this so I can RP a witcher even more successfully.

In Morrowind's Tribunal expansion, the flame on the repaired http://images.uesp.net/9/95/TB-Weapons-Trueflame.jpg sword was added with a special kind of dwemer oil/tar mixture (Pyroil Tar). So it's not unheard of.

I suppose a little tweak in the poison mechanics could do the trick. But I can't understand the no magic approach a lot of people have. It's part of the reality in nirn. It's like deciding not to use electronics in RL.

And there are people who do that. There's plenty of RP reasons not to use magic.

For me at least, it's all about increasing the replayability of the game. If I can make my various builds as different from each other as possible, the game feels less repetitious over multiple playthroughs.

There's one in Tytanis that let's you do that. I adapted it as a standalone mod for my own use, however I don't have permission to publish it. Hopefully, Tytanis will email me soon....

It's just more choice and preference, I'd rather see a flaming arrow on course for an enemy than flames coming from my characters hands or mouth, but the thing for me is the "conventional" side, basically needing the materials and skills to create the weapons.

While magic is as much apart of Skyrim as electricity is to our world, my current character would rather avoid it's use, I would rather avoid it's use, if I next role with a mage then I'll use every spell in the book.

You put me to shame, 100s of hours of play and I did not know you could burn with a torch, I guess it's because I attempted to light one of those oil pools with a torch and nothing happens so I figured they were only good for light and block.
