Just found out about a new cloud service called http://copy.com/?r=voBRkR. It says that it supports Windows, Mac, Linux, Android and iOS. And that there is no file size limit, which is a bonus for me, since I usually use cloud storage for backup, and my backup files can be huge. Also while it starts off with the (almost) standard of 5GB free, as a promotion for its launch, for a limited time, both the referrer and the referred get additional 5GB each.

Ehhhhm, cloud storage freaks me out, I'll skip, but thanks for letting us know.

Erm, I think cloud storage will be a downfall. 1) it presents a larger, jucier target for attacks (in theory the storage protection should be scaled to that size as well), and 2) it brings up the "Too Big To Fail" dilema. The school district that I work for uses Google for email and Google drive for documents. There are some servers for backing-up data, but the teachers need to remember to do it. Man, if Google went down or under...

If you are worried about privacy or the this provider failing, then don't use it. What you could use it for, though, is to transfer files too big for most email providers. That's all I use my dropbox account for.
