Corvo and the empress.

Post » Fri Nov 16, 2012 1:35 pm

It is obvious that they were very close, Lord Pendleton even said that "Everyone knows he was    -ing the empress." Then again it could be just a rumor. Do you think they were romantically involved or did they just have a very deep friendship?

And what about Emily? Any word on who the father might be? Again, it's rumored to be Corvo and Emily even drew a picture of him with "Daddy" as a title, but it's not 100% confirmed. She always calls him by the first name. And if Emily really is Corvo's daughter, doesn't that make her a bastard child? The common folks would have hated that her enemies could have used this against her claim to throne.

A bonus question: Can anyone tell me the title of the ending credits song? I just can't get it out of my head :P

i am doing my second playthrough and on this one i noticed she drew a picture of me with the title of "daddy". heres me theory

i think Corvo and the empress were in love, but they had to keep it a secret since he is a guard/working man and she is a ....well noble/empress. I think she accidentally got pregnant, had emily and they taught her to never call him daddy or it would look bad for the both of them.

idk, just my 2 cents

I think it's heavily implied that they were involved. The intro of the game is laced with a "more than a bodyguard" tone from the Empress.

well i just finished the game for the second time, this time with low chaos, and the outsider at they very end said something like

"and she will lay your body in her mothers grave (i know im wording that wrong)" but what stood out was "because you are more to her than a bodyguard."

im just going to assume he was emily's father

That's as much as you get out of the game toward that line of thought. It's known that Corvo is definitely a father figure to Emily, but it never plainly says he's her father. It's up to the player, so I like to assume he is her father.

Could be that he's just a father figure to her. Kind of like kids call their stepfathers "dad"

I don't know, I think that if he really was the father it would have been more widely known. And I kind of feel that Emily is too stubborn to NOT call him dad when told so.

Spoiler

It is heavily implied by various sources throughout the game that Emily is, in fact, Corvo's biological daughter. So yeah, do the math...

Dig deep enough and you'll learn that the Heart is actually Jessamine's with her soul apparently trapped inside. Given the type of relationship she had with Corvo, one quickly realizes that the Outsider has an...interesting sense of humor.

This is just my take on things feel free to disagree with me or prove me wrong.

Corvo can't be Emily's father. Reason: If the Empress had a daughter out of nowhere I'm sure everyone would know she is a bastard child. Unless of course there is evidence that Corvo had a relationship with the Empress before this supposed "emperor" died.

The heart is the Empress. Reasons: 1. There are various quotes from the heart supporting this, 2. They have the same voice, 3. Perio has an audio log of him saying he can make a heart beat forever, but wonders what that means for the soul.

When you point your heart at Daud, it will say "Why have you brought me here? Am I to forgive this man for what he has done to me?"

I think it can't be even more obvious.

I never questioned that the heart belongs to the empress, anyone can figure that out from the first few lines of its dialogue. What I'm wondering is what kind of relationship they had before she was assassinated. Obviously they had a very deep friendship, but was there anything more to that? The fact that people spread rumors isn't proof enough. People love to gossip, and seeing the nobility in the game, it's natural that their rotten dirty minds would think Corvo and empress had a physical relationship. I haven't seen any real proof to that though.

And again, if it was a known fact that Emily is Corvo's daughter, people would have commented on that. The announcer could have used it to vilify Corvo even more - killing an empress in order to keep the child for himself would have made him into an even bigger monster in the public eye. Also, the picture with "daddy" written isn't a good proof as well. Emily obviously sees him as a father and it could have been her way of showing that. Hell, my GF works in an elementary school and she has been called "mom" by some kids.

The empress chose Corvo to be her protector at a young age so they were close by each other for years. In close proximity over a span of time, with the trust inherent in such a relationship (empress-and-protector) it's a given that a close bond will develop. Doesn't mean it was romantic. It's possible, but it shouldn't be assumed.

i think tis one of those things we may never know, and Arkane left it up to everyone to deside on their own.

I do think Corvo is the father, and there has to be some higher up people who know about it but are keeping it hush hush. I dont know, we may never find out.

The Empress herself said that Corvo is close to her heart in a audio log. But that can go either way. Its just one of those things, that can go whichever way you want it to go. Personally I'm a svcker for some romance.
Emily obviously sees him as a father...

In my recent high chaos playthrough, Emily constantly referred to me as "Mister Corvo" when we were in the Hound Pits. It brought a tear to my eye.

I don't think that rules it out at all. Even in real history, beloved/ popular/ powerful monarchs could recognize bastards and have them as heirs. Pendleton talks about having to have children or recognize one of his bastards. We can't assume the same morals are at play here as we think of as "Victorian." For a beloved empress, it may be enough for the people that it was her daughter.

You are all wrong. Jessamine's baby daddy caught the plague when he was screwing infected courtesans at the Cat's and died as a weeper. Woop woop!
