I'm only half way through the High Overseer mission, and I'm suddenly moving around pretty slowly. I've been using no equipment or weapons so far other than my sword and bare hands, so I'm thinking all the weight of my gear (most pickups, ammo, gadgets are maxed out) is slowing me.

Does anyone know if that's true? The speed reduction is only slightly perceptible (and it sounds like bone charms clinking when I'm in stealth mode), so I'm not entirely sure. The game's pretty sparse on information about your abilities and gear - if I'm being slowed down I want to know how to drop stuff.

I've accidently picked up lethal weapons on my non lethal playthrough, and I want to find out how to drop them because I just know I'll throw a grenade by accident because I'm an idiot like that! >.<

I just want them out of my inventory, does anyone know if you can drop items!?

I don't believe encumbrance is a factor in this game.

As far as I know, you cannot get encumbered in this game.

You movement slows down when you have your weapon out and when you are crouched. A couple of bone charms and Agility 2 can help with movement speed.
