Could my laptop run Guild Wars 2?

Post » Mon Sep 17, 2012 10:36 pm

I have never been a big MMORPG fan and, since many also employ a monthly fee (something I can neither afford nor would be willing to pay even if I did have the money), I have never really even played some of the most popular MMORPG games - such as World of Warcraft. However, I really do like the idea of a "sociable" video-game and Guild Wars 2 is apparently the best MMORPG out there at the moment. Best of all, it doesn't have a monthly fee!

AMD Athlon II X2 processor P320 clocked at 2.1GHz
ATI Radeon 4250 with 256MB dedicated VRAM
4GB DDR3 RAM/Memory
500GB HDD/Storage
Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit

Can I run it?

Why does everyone refer me to this site? It doesn't work! It recognises my 4250 graphics card found in a laptop as having over 2GB of video-ram. I certainly don't!

Also, by how much can I run it? I mean, since the specifications could potentially increase as new patches and expansions are released, I don't want to one day update the game/purchase an expansion and find I can no longer run the game.

Is the game any good as well? I've heard some people call it amazing and others claim it to be more generic MMO crap.

If that laptop can run it, it will be the absolute bare minimum. And that is even if it will run.Not worth getting on that machine.

And yeah it is a pretty good game.

http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Running_the_game Your processor is just over them, so don't expect great performance from it. It's over the 2 GHZ recommendation, but http://www.cpubenchmark.net/cpu_lookup.php?cpu=AMD+Athlon+II+P320+Dual-Core. Your graphics card http://www.videocardbenchmark.net/gpu.php?gpu=Mobility+Radeon+HD+4250. The other cards in the minimum spec list score around 300-500.

I would upgrade first.

Oh, well. I don't want to upgrade because, besides games (which I admit would be nice to run), my current laptop is perfect!
