Could be MMO to bring back friends.

Post » Mon Sep 23, 2013 12:57 pm

Greetings,

Decided to take a break from these forums because reading about all of this stuff, then realizing that the MMO comes out in Spring of 2014 doesn't really help. But anyways, ever since my friends and I have quit World of Warcraft we've been searching for a MMO where we can all agree on and perhaps stick with it. My girlfriend says this MMO could be what she needs and that is perfect. My arena partner is a big fan of crafting and from what reviews I've been reading it seems like they've done a really good job and that fits him and I got another who loves PvP as much as I do. :D

The only major flaw is.. Which race are we going to agree on? The mystery!

You'll need to pick the same alliance, not the same race ;-)

I have never played a mmo with my brother because he's no fan of mmo's but he's also a TES fan, so for the first time I'll be playing with him, looking forward to that as well.

Pretty sure some of the kinship in Lotro will join as well :D

I'm in the same boat you are. WoW really lost it's luster, even with the MoP expansions (which some will argue is good and others bad, but at least they rolled out new content)

It will be cool because instead of a PvP partner you can have a whole group . . . maybe sell yourselves off as the Ebonheart DeathSquad Pack or something. I really think that ESO will be the next great online game.

ebonheart pact has dark elf, then ur aldmeri have the other two elf races. There's big a big recruitment push for aldmeri since alot of people who's joining ebonheart are only doing it because their only interest in the series stems from skyrim. the daggerfall covenant has orcs if you still consider that an elf, though alot of people don't.

If you care about politics then I'd do a little research. The three factions are all fighting for very different reasons but really the same things ultimately.

Then nazi Elves are the right place to start Sir! Just make sure your friends know Elder Scrolls elves are nazi and cannibals, not generic Tolkien treehuggers (despite the art style picturing them as generic Tolkien elves)

The thalmor were not in charge during this times. They are arrogant still, but they are fighting as equals in this war, the Bosmer and Khajiit are not slave races to them. They are fighting because they believe that humans are too inexperienced to lead the throne at the time and that is why the empire fell, and they do have a decent point.

The Bosmer are cannibals though, thank the Valenwood forest being semi-sentient for that.

JOIN THE ALDMERI DOMINION AND TOGETHER THE THREE RACES CAN BRING A TIME OF PEACE TO TAMRIEL!!!!!

races of Mer:

-Aldmer (High Elves) - Aldmeri Dominion

-Bosmer (Wood Elves) - Aldmeri Dominion

-Dunmer (Dark Elves) - Ebonheart Pact

-Orsimer (Orcs or Ugly Elves) - Daggerfall Covenant

Races of Man:

-Breton - Daggerfall Covenant

-Redguard - Daggerfall Covenant

-Nord - Ebonheart Pact

-Imperial - Neutral (non-playable race)

Beast Races:

-Khajiit - Aldmeri Dominion

-Argonian - Ebonheart Pact

as you can see, if you have 2 people wanting to play Mer, you are restricted to either the Aldmeri Dominion or Ebonheart Pact.

If you want to play a human race, the only option for your game team is Ebonheart. If you dont mind the race you play you have more choices.

then again, it really is up to you all to figure out what to do, all i can add is HAVE FUN WOOOOOO

yes, and that would be awesome if you didn't know the es from the single player games. but those who have played the series (like myself) basicly have to deal with it and shut our sweetroll dumpster!

When a new elder scrolls game comes peeking around the corner, and i start playing it, i try not to think about what is different compared to the other games.

It seems to me if we had it completely your way we would still be reading all the text when people talk to us and be able to count the pixels the game is made of.

I would like to offer you this piece of advice, do with it as you please.

Try not to be biased before you even had a chance of playing the game. The way you talk is like you have all the inside information and want to stop people form playing the game. When asked "How you doing today?" answer the following, "I can't complain, because ".

This will give you a more optimistic way of living. Don't look at reason to complain, look at reasons NOT to complain.

para --> out

This is going to be an mmo to bring back or introduce alot of people into the genre though.

Since my guild departed the game that shall not be named we've been going through the gambit of mmo's for something to sate our boredom. But at any one time I can get maybe a third of them to jump on to any one title. Mostly cause the games in a very general sense don't appeal to everybody as a whole. Yet everyone's fervently waiting on ESO. Half of us intending to get the collector's edition with our new found freed up sub revenue. In addition to that people that usually aren't all that serious about mmo's from our individual social circles are showing interest too. Is this all that uncommon or is this a rarity some people are finding as they bide time to let lose their hordes upon the unsuspecting tamriel?

This. It annoys the hell out of me when people think Thalmor in Skyrim = Altmer in ESO.

To go even further, Most ALTMER hate the Thalmor at the time in skyrim, and The Summerset Isles was the first place to be invaded by the Thalmor. An Altmer legate actually mentions a time where the Thalmor blew up a district of a city because they were looking for ALTMER who were against them.

EDIT: they are also a relatively small group in Comparison to the Whole ALtmer Civilization. The only reason they got to power was because they said they were the ones who closed the Oblivion Gates, and with Martin a statue and the Coc a Mad God, no one was around to point out they were lying

Yes, the Thalmor was funded around the time of Oblivion Crisis, that was in the final of the 3th ERA, I think that was in the time where Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion takes place. So that was 800 years after the events of ESO.

Actually the Thalmor existed before then. During the next Aldmeri Dominion (the one that comes after ESO) the Thalmor are created to be a governing branch in Valenwood to act as the representatives to the Bosmer and Khajit.

The Thalmor from around the time of the Oblivion Crisis is actually not even related to the original Thalmor.

This is actually kinda interesting though.

As I understand it the thalmor is skyrim were a branch of military of the aldmeri dominion, a secret police that they placed operative in skyrim with permissions and the guise of upholding the white gold concordant.

Alot of the people for aldmeri dominion state that what they will become in the later iterations of the series has no bearing on the current iteration.

But isn't that a little like choosing which parts of the lore you like to follow?

No matter what happens in elder scrolls storyline, unless something happens to seperate it's events from the linear progression of the single player series, a split dimension or collapse or alternate time lines or something that changes it from the path it's currently heading; this governing body will become the villain some go as far to call the nazi's of elder scrolls.

Should the future be held against the past iterations?

Personally I believe all men are created equal, man and elf. Everything dealing with the altmer and their goals from my perspective have usually been that of talking down to the races of man. You are inexperienced and too young so you are an inferior race. How is that different from declaring themselves a master race?

No I don't think every altmer is a racist and follows this belief, just like not every nord or dunmer follow their countries promoted cultural idealogies. But supporting the war effort and following orders makes you complicit with them don't you?

Well there is a drastic difference between wanting to guide man because they are lesser and wanting to essentially wipe them out (Thalmor during the time of Skyrim)

Isn't elves and man at the same point in technology and mastery of magics? Yeah there are men that abuse that mastery but the same can be pointed out of elvenkind. The only things different are theology and philosophy, which while different aren't necessarily better or worse but different strokes. Which shouldn't be handed down as an edict or by force.

The Thalmor were a political group (surprise, surprise  ), and a rather small one at that. They only got into a leader position because they got everyone to believe they stopped the Oblivion Crisis of the third era in the Summerset Isles. if you were told that an innocent, nice little kid would grow up to be a mass murder that killed thousands, would you kill him?

Most Altmer, even of the 4th Era, HATE the Thalmor, possibly more than the other races.
