I was watching the movie gladiator, set in ancient Roman times, and the thought crossed my mind, could the Empire in Tamriel ever become a Republic.

Seeing as TES Empire draws heavy comparisons to the Roman Empire, and how the Roman Empire was formerly the Republic of Rome, TES Empire could go in the reverse, changing from an empire to a republic.

As has been shown in the most recent game, Skyrim, the Empire is in decline, with the Thalmor kicking at the door. And if certain events unfold, alla the Dark Brotherhood, things could go even further downhill.

What are your thoughts on all of this, and could you see the Empire becoming a Republic?
