Coulden't you have worked on the spell system more? RANT

I'm frankly quite dissapointed with the spell system (animations / cusomization) I was expecting more after 6 years.. it's identical to the one in oblivion besides that you can cast spells from 2 hands in skyrim, playing a battle mage get's boring since the spell dmg / animation stays the same at all levels - there's no real satisfication in playing a mage - dual casting gets boring it's also using the same spell animations, also I still don't get why you didn't implement a spell upgrade system instead of having 12312312 spell books, such as this:

- Novie Fireball ( takes 1 second to charge, 10 dmg)
- Apprentice Fireball (takes 1.5 seconds to charge, 15dmg, slightly improved radius)
- [..] Fireball (takes x seconds to charge, x dmg, slightly improved radius)
- [..] Fireball (takes x seconds to charge, x dmg, slightly improved radius)
(and so on)

Is it really that much to ask for.. to have some spell scaling? :/ If anyone played fable (1-2) they now what kind of spell mechanics i'm talking about, in general it's what makes the most sense - by using a certain destruction spell (let's say fireball) you should be able of improving it & get new attributes and not having it being flying matchstick that does 10pts dmg at all levels.

TL;DR It feels pathetic charging a little frost snowball while being a lv25 battlemage, novice spells becomes useless / unsatisfying - why not use an upgrading system like you did with the shouts?

1. What's the point in charging a low dmg spell like fire bolt? And why can't I charge it longer for a higher dmg / bigger fireball?

2. Why did you remove the option to craft spells? You had 6 years since oblivion to perfect the spell system, instead you settle with dual spell wielding ( which in theory just adds a slightly different animation IF your using 2 spells of the same kind. ) Using fire + frost only shoots fire in one hand and frost in the other.. what's the point?

Heres a good example of great spell scaling / combination: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PIkDF9U1rNY
That's satisfying combat, you can mix spells, you can charge them - no need to go through 2k+ of spells.

Overall great game, but you really need to pay more focus in gameplay mechanics and real world interaction imo, it's very much alike Oblivion spell wise and no real world interaction.

And inb4 "crafting spells is too OP" no it isn't, I have a archer and I one shot everything, I have a warrior and I 1-2 hit everything, mages are suppoed to have high dmg output and you decide what spells you think is fair, it's a SP game afterall.

Oh and, you should hire this guy.

Heres a great mod suggestion: http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1270382-req-higher-level-spells-of-the-same-archetype/

I'm playing on my archer untill a proper mage mod comes out, right now it just feels unsatisfying and too limited in playing a mage..

You guys are ridiculous. This magic system is far superior to that in any other TES game.

Not really, also it's very unsatisfying, dual casting is nothing more than using the same spells + animation ( with lowered damage ) they didn't even bother to add mixing of spells, i'd say they were lazy and rushed. If they add dual magic why the **** not add so that I can combine spells for a different effect? It makes no sense.

Maybe magic is just right, then, and one-handed, two-handed, and archery are overpowered.

I wish there was more variety, which I guess is the point of this thread.

But I don't just mean combining the spell effects so that you get the same 4 or 5 spells with different graphics (which is what that Fable vid looks like). I mean more spells! Look at Neverwinter Nights or Baldur's Gate.... spells like Wail of the Banshee, Finger of Death, Melf's Acid Arrow, Comet... so many different spells with many different effects.

The landscape of Syrim is very, very pretty. But the spells are not, and every battle I've had so far (level 28 now) goes like this: "I'ma fire mah lasers! But which colour should I choose... blue, orange or purple?!". That's the extent of my combat decision making.
