Couldn't open vmtr page file (RETAIL GAME)

Just bought RAGE from the local blockbuster, installed the 3 DVD's but when I try to start the game I get this error. Computer is newly installed, latest drivers and everything.

Quick specs: i7-2700k, nVidia GTX 570, Windows 7 x64.

Seems to be not seeing your pagefile,

Do you have your pagefile on a seperate drive than the game or OS?

Only the Windows page file is on another drive.

I managed to get the game to run. I tried reinstalling the game and at first it was the same. I uninstalled the game completely, and had Steam download and install the game instead. Then it worked. Dunno why the installation from retail DVD's wouldn't work.

Though I got the game to run, it did freeze on me after the first mission. Doubt the problem is related to the page file issue

Sounds like you got a bad DVD, or you may have a fault with your DVD drive. Alternatively some AV software may have gotten a false-positive on it and attempted to "repair" it. The "vmtr" stuff is referring to Rage's own internal page file for virtual texturing, not the Windows page file, and the funny-looking name indicates a chance of some kind of data corruption along the way, and the fact that a Steam DL worked backs up my guess.
