A couple of questions about Boone and Novac.

Post » Wed Dec 01, 2010 5:27 pm

First of all as part of the main quest I have just arrived at Novac, had an nose around and have also purchased a Motel room. I was just wondering if any of my stuff will dissapear if I put it in any of the containers located in the motel room, like the safe or desk etc.

I have also completed the quest "One for my Baby" for Craig Boone and have had the choice to ask him to join me as a companion. I don't really want a companion at the moment so was wondering if it is possible to leave him where he is and be able to have him as a companion later on in the game? Im not sure because when you ask him what he wants to do after completing the quest he says he may just wander the wasteland...

The hotel room in Novac is definitely a safe place to store stuff.

As for the companion question, at anytime during the game, you can terminate a companionship and that companion will return to wherever you originally found them. You can go back anytime you want and ask them to join you.

But if you go back to Novac for Boone but can't find him, remember that his sniper shift starts a 9:00 pm in the T-Rex mouth.

Well...they're SUPPOSED to go back there.

I believe you can just use the "Goodbye" option in the conversation and he'll just sit there til you pick him up.

What I mean is that you simply choose not to recruit him at that time and he should be there later, but don't quote me on that.

FYI
Spoiler
when you become idolized with Novac, they give you that room permanently, free of charge

It would be safer then to go ahead and recruit the companion, then just tell them "I think we should part ways" while you're at the point of where you can recruit them. If you don't want them to tag along but worried that the option would be unavailable later.

You can get Boone as a free companion if you invite him while someone else is on your team. That may not work using the normal re-join dialog. You may want to rethink that.

I think you can only have one human and one robotic companion. I usually take EDE and boon because I like to snipe as well. But there are certain other things. If you are liked by the NCR they give you a radio and you can call for a trooper or soldier to help you. I think they stay til they die(not sure as I haven't needed to use mine). But if they die you can call another in 24hrs. You can also get a bodyguard while in Freeside, making your party total 5, at least for a short time.

But I think it may be a glitch if you get Boone while having another human companion.
