crafting - click to win or minigame?

Vanguard had a crafting system that was a game in itself. If you played it correctly you could get bonuses, but if you played badly you could lose your mats. There was stat gear, and you had choices to make whether to focus on one stat over another and it made a real difference. There were questlines.

Afaik VG is the only game to have done anything like this and I think it was a great improvement over other games. Whats everyone think about crafting as a win/lose game?

I remember this, was the only crafting I've ever been tempted to do aside from SWG. Good idea.

Don't expect a crafting system anywhere near Vanguards, Age Of Wushu, SWG or even EQ2. Vanguards crafting is a whole other sphere and takes just as long to level up as adventuring and diplomacy. It has it's own quests and items, you can't craft unless you are wearing crafting armour with crafting stats plus walking into a cities or town gives you certain crafting buff.

There is just no comparison.

TESO crafting sounds interesting but it's nothing as deep as the games i've mentioned.
