Crafting questions?

Post » Mon May 14, 2012 3:56 pm

So is this how it works? I've been trying to figure this out.

Mine Ore
Smelt Ore into ingots
Work ingots into armor/weapons

Hunt game for hide
Tan hide
Work hide into armor/weapons

So it's like a three step process? Do you need instructions (recipes, like for potions) for making stuff, or is just having the Perk for the armor/weapon type enough?

I don't know that we actually can do anything with hide. There's no listed crafting skill for tanning.

Are we just going by the fact that there's animations for it? Or has that been confirmed as a player ability?

Pretty much thought from what I can gather it's quite in depth. The example Iv'e seen was an iron shield, to create it you need 4 iron ingots (to create the actual shield part) then 2 leather straps for the handles. So you would need to mine iron ore, smelt it, hunt animals for hide, tan it to create leather straps (or maybe leather, then leather straps) and then finally create it at a forge.

IDK, But you can make JEWELERY.

Which is awesome if you're into that sort of thing/ Feeling like you need about 40 more points in Fabulous to go with that Battle Axe.

Here's what I've managed to understand.

Leather;

1."Skin" animals for pelts [Loot]
2. Make pelts into leather [Tanning]
3. Keep leather or make leather straps. [Tanning]
4. Create armor with xx amount of leather and straps, or other fancy stuff. [Smithing]

Blacksmithing

1. Mine \ Loot "X"-Ore [Mining \ Loot]
2. Make x-Ore into ingots. [Smelting]
3. Create armor \ weapons from xx amount of leather \ -straps, x-ingots, or other fancy stuff [Smithing]

I might be missing something here.
But that's the process I've come to understand.

Also, there are different "styles" to each set. IE; Different Steel chests, one with shoulders - one without. One with a full steel body - one with a more S&M look.
I'm loving the theory of the crafting, though it sounds easy - It will be a blast for a crafting-lover <3

What I've come to understand is this;
Yes, you can make Jewelery <3
But, Enchanting + Items = Win.
So basically, You made a good looking bling-ring (hoho) and enchanted it. Now your ring actually does something else beside looking awesome !

Or you can sell that [censored] and make it Rain.

That was my plan.

Oh, forgot to add that you can "upgrade" your weapon using a x-ingot.
So basically, Do that on your weapon and it will go from "Great?" to "Superior" , which affects your damage.
Not sure if there was a option like this for Armors.
