Just encountered this problem.. I have finished the DB quest line sometime ago, have the Dawnstar sanctuary, finished DG quest. I was looking for perma bodies to dead thrall and thought I'd visit the original DB sanctuary again. Every time I try to enter, the game will just freeze. When I go look at which games to load, there is a save picture of me entering but it fails to load.

Anyone figure this out or have a workaround?

I have the game installed to the harddrive of the old clunker version Xbox 360, with autosaving off. It did freeze on the loading screen for about 3-4 minutes, but eventually made a recovery and decided to load. No idea why it took so long, unlike another place where a similar thing happened, this time there was no aberrant autosave where there should not be one. I would recommend going off and making a cuppa and waiting to see if it will let you in or not.

Edit
There was no problem going back out the door.

The load screen would just be the billowing smoke/fog and then it would hard freeze. The smoke will stop moving and I can't even access the xbox dashboard. I didn't know autosave can be disabled on xbox.

Yes autosaving can be disabled from the options menu, although it will still do an autosave when doing the Lost to the Ages quest that came with Dawnguard (just before the forge), which will also cause a similar problem to this one. How long did you wait after the screen froze Froya? Just leave it there and go do something else and see if it will eventually load. if not turn off ALL autosave options and try again.

Can't believe I played so long and didn't know about turning off auto save. It makes the load times so much playable.

I took your advice, turned off all the auto saves and entered. The screen still froze but I left for maybe 5 min and came back and the game loaded. Strange, annoying, but it worked. Not much in there after all for me to sift through as I thought.
