Crash When Loading Areas

Post » Tue May 15, 2012 3:45 pm

I'm also having the same issues. I beleive its driver related as well, did not have this problem prior to the new ATI patch - but of course I was suffering from the image load delay.

Using a HD 5800. Really can't even play the game to be honest. Sure, I can quest and it seems to save my progress - although I'm stuck in Racing.

ALSO When I fire up the game, after every crash, VC redistributable or another starts installing through steam for Rage. A propt come ups and I have to approve. Not sure if it's releated, but this started at the same time

Removed the rage config for that fixes the graphics issue and now it doesn't lag between loading. But now the game runs choppy and loads textures funky.

Awsome.

I loaded the shrouded bunker the first time and then I died. So when I reloaded my checkpoint, tried to go back into the shrouded bunker & the game now starts to crash. -_-

updating the drivers has nothing to do with this problem... this problem is within the game ...id needs to fix

Yes. cpu 100% gpu 0% ram low usage? Game problem.

I have been fine playing since the updated drivers for ATI came out. Now I can load my game, but if I go to any "zone" where it has to load, it never comes out of the loading screen. I have to force close the client, and restart it. Same thing happens again upon reloading.

Bootysweat? Where you at boy?

Can you give us an update? Either you are ON IT, or you NEED MORE DATA. You will find no end of volunteers if you need more data. I want to be positive about this and help you help others. LET US KNOW WHAT IS GOING ON PLEASE AND THANK YOU.

To clarify, I am not any sort of engineer, technician, developer or even a Bethesda employee.

I'm simply a volunteer moderator on this forum, and I happen to have a laptop with AMD 5830m, which is based on the same die as your 5770 desktop card. I haven't experienced any crash on loading areas, but on Oct 3 I experienced CTD on startup until I installed the Oct 3 AMD hotfix.

The devs are reviewing every issue posted here and you can be assured that your issue has been logged and is under review. I have been posting the latest updates here: http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1236533-rage-tech-support-updates/

Most recently, there has been confirmation that a new round of AMD and NVIDIA drivers are forthcoming, as well as a patch that will provide graphics settings options.

Any/Every time I make it to the "ghost hideout" first mission upon leaving the ark, when I go to open the door to enter the hideout the game always goes to the RAGE main menu where it says PRESS ENTER.

and also any/every time I try to load game after it does this, the game crashes.

Specs:
CPU: i7 2600k
GPU: AMD 6990 (using fixed Rage performance drivers)
RAM: 8 GB
Resolution: 1680 x 1050

Using the 8k rageconfig.cfg file.

I just played an hour or so with no crashing anywhere after making a minor change. Maybe it won't last, but it let me in and out of the Ghost Town for the first time. What was it? I was reading in another forum and somebody mentioned having success with turning off the Catalyst AI. I didn't turn it off, but I did drop the settings down to performance from the default setting. Otherwise I'm still running 11.8 and not using the config file. I have pop-in, but the game runs pretty well otherwise so far.

My system: Q6600 processor, 4 MB Ram, HD 6850 (1GB) video card, Vista 32.

Good luck.

Hi folks,

got my german DVD version finally today, yes & woohoo!! :woot:

But same error, can′t get into "Ghost town" during the first "mission", game crashes or gives me an error message, that the game can′t write to the saving storage (and it could for sure!!)?!

The only thing i have changed was creating a "rageconfig.cfg", which includes following lines (that stops the streaming prob for me):

seta vt_pageimagesizeuniquediffuseonly2 "8192"
seta vt_pageimagesizeuniquediffuseonly "8192"
seta vt_pageimagesizeunique "8192"
seta vt_pageimagesizevmtr "8192"

My system:

intel Core2Duo E8500
16 GB RAM
Windows 7 x64
GeForce GTX 260 896 MB
Latest GeForce BETA driver

Nico

same issues here no driver so far was able to fix the freeze+crash to desktop
note my game is installed on an external usb drive the game itselfs works but as soon as i leave wellspring to wasteland and start driving 4 meters or more the game freezes and
crashes back to desktop

using a Nvidea geforce 560
currently i dont think its the drivers - anymore tested cfg and without driver v.280-285.38 all share the same problem but the game runs so the drivers should do their job
now trying on an internal HDD

Same issues in between loading areas here. I found out that if you can't get in a loading area, try to do a side mission of some sort and then try again. Sometimes it helps.
Hope we get a patch soon. Ati is developing new drivers for our graphics cards. Follow Thollenshead on twitter for driver updates.

My specs:
Intel core i5 2.8 Ghz
4GB Ram
Ati Radeon HD M 5800 1GB

Problem: Crashing in between loading areas.

Cap is right about that. While it isn't 100% by any means, it does seem to help. There are two areas in the Wasteland I haven't gotten that little work around to work on; one of which stopped my campaign progress dead. My brother doesn't have the problem and he's running the same graphics card and much the same on everything else in his PC.

Something I came here to make note of is that I'm beginning to think specific areas are bigger culprits then others. I'm having the same trouble with the exact same spot after making a new campaign on Nightmare (side note: the challenge in Nightmare seems more spot on then Hard). The 'side mission' idea worked on the area before, so I'll probably try that again with this. In any case, I'll toss in the areas I think are culprit, at least from what I've uncovered as far into the campaign as I have.

WARNING: Mild Spoiler Alert! (Area Names and Mild Reference to Missions)

Spoiler

Outrigger Sewers Entrance
Mutant Bash TV (A few times upon entering out right, but all the time when trying to complete {receive reward} the first run through)
Dead City Central (When trying to re-enter to pick up anything I missed the first time through)

My thoughts on this game are that its not tested enough with any drivers from either company before launch. Its not the drivers issue by default causing this artifacts texture popups and other things because AMD and/or Nvidia didnt do their job.Its other way around ID didnt tested the game enough on diferent types of hardware combos till 90% of the comps would run it near flawllesly. As you all know drivers cant be tweaked to a specific software that hasnt been released yet unlles theyr working hand in hand with devs.I run this game on AMD Athlon? II X4 650,Sapphire Toxic HD 4890 Vapor-X ,6gb 1333ddr3 ram , and it should run just fine and it does fps wise and thats all that works.ITS NOT THE DRIVERS ITS THEIR SLOPPY WORK..

I was experiencing the same area loading crash and I found that playing in windowed size apparently removes the issue. So far so good, I was finally able to leave mutant bash tv! Hope it helps, sorry for my english.

ok just wanted to tell you guys about this: as i mentioned i use a intel Q6600 8gigs of-DDR2 RAm and a Nvidea geforce 560
had the same problems now i finally made it in and out of wellspring to wasteland to MB to the bunker and even back without having a single crash
Here is what i did:
i use 2 monitors normally so i unplugged one completely disabled any sort of antialising ( x0 ) have GPU transcodeing turned on and closed every appllication that wasnt neccessary and disabled antivirus and anti malware programs...
If you have a sort of GUI skiinning application like windowblinds add rage to the list and tell the program not to skin it.
Thats about it drivers are 285.38 no config file used im unsure if this will keep working but for now it does o.O i dont even know if its the secondary monitor that has caused the problem.
hopefully some of you can also go with this method.

Exactly the same problem. The game crashes 100% of the time when attempting to load the wasted garage area. I can't continue with the game, and at this point I will probably attempt to get a refund.

Specs, for reference:

CPU: Core i5 2.67Ghz
GPU: ATI Firepro M7820 (essentially a Radeon HD 5870)
RAM: 4GB

Playing at 1280x800 with the 8Kb texture cache options on to fix the glitches I was experiencing.

I think I'll give it a day or so to see if this problem is at least officially addressed and some news on a patch given, but otherwise the game is unplayable for me.
